Around Town: Dispatches Filming; Evan Peters Spotted and More on Hot Dad Bradley Cooper

Hello Thursday. PhillyWood is hot and happening, as the cool fall weather settles in. For me SOCIAL SEASON is in full, from today through 11/3 I am shooting at least 2 events a day. Also going strong since June is Dispatches From Elsewhere this week filming in Center City, plus I have updated news on the upcoming Kate Winslet HBO series and casting. Let’s get started Around Town With HughE

Tuesday Dispatches from Elsewhere filmed on Market Street in the Continental again, a location they filmed at over the summer. Wednesday and Thursday they filmed at Ocean Prime at 15th and Sansom Streets as well as in Rittenhouse Square. Look for them to film on Friday near 9th and Lombard, and then next week return to the Curtis Center Tuesday, my sources tell me. Actor Jason Segel and his girlfriend had dinner at Villa Roma on Tuesday night. Sally Field was finally spotted out, she stopped by the Whole Foods on South Street. She drove herself my friend told me. What?? Poor Sally has to navigate our potholes. Hopefully better than the Queer Eye guys, I heard they got a few flats and were none to happy. Thankfully I see the Streets Department is rolling out new streets as we speak.

Yesterday while walking through Rittenhouse Square Allied Philly’s Jesse Cute caught Sally between scenes sitting on a bench. You’ll have a chance to see Sally Field yourself at the Philadelphia Library on November 1 as she discusses her book In Pieces with Marty Moss-Coane, host of Radio Times on WHYY .
I photographed Hugh Jackson and Kate Winslet at a unique NYC premiere in 2006. It’s posted on my first blog “Confessions of a Paparazzi.”

I wrote in the spring that Kate Winslet will be coming to the Philly area to film an HBO TV Series “Mare of Easttown”, Our award winning casting company Heery Loftus Casting is looking for Caucasian IDENTICAL TWIN (or Triplets) BOYS , age 11 months to 14 months, for RECURRING ROLES on the show. The show will be shooting Nov 4, 2019 through April, 2020 (Maybe Kate will head to the Wells Fargo Center to catch Celine Dion in concert on 2/26) in the PHILADELPHIA SUBURBS. PAID positions. Please send photos, parent names and phone numbers, and date of birth of the boys to: easttowncasting@gmail.com Put “TWIN BOYS” in the subject line. Hey American Horror story fans remember when I mentioned an Evan Peters was spotted at Chickie & Pete’s during an Eagles football game 2 weeks ago, now we know why, he’s in this HBO movie too. Hey gays, Jean Smart from Designing Women is also cast. Here’s the list of cast members.

Last weekend I went to the GreatPHL19 24 hr discussion event. One of the events I caught was art curator Conrad Benner’s live Streets Department podcast of Jane Golden, Mural Arts. After words I got this shot with former Eagles great Connor Barwin, who opened the night. (How lucky are we that Connor Barwin could have settled anywhere else when not on the field, but he chooses Philly cause we are a hot bed of creativity happening here.) I wasn’t there as I was shooting the Greg Wolf Fundraiser in Trenton. The next day I had hoped to go to a dedication of the new Ed Snider mural, but Mural Arts, but the morning sessions at GreatPHL19 were running behind and I really wanted to catch the Eli Kulp talk. It was powerful and exactly what I needed to hear. He talked about purpose, after tragedy, and we are all aware of the Amtrak crash which paralyzed him when he was at the height of his career. It was a story everyone needs to hear. I hope he writes a book.
Ed Snider’s Family – Provided

Saturday was the dedication for the Ed Snider Hockey Mural: Inspiring Our Youth Mural Mural Arts Philadelphia and the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation will dedicate a new mural, Snider Hockey: Inspiring Our Youth. The mural features the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation and celebrates the life and legacy of its founder and the visionary behind the Philadelphia Flyers, the late Ed Snider. The design, created by artist Jared Bader, highlights how Snider Hockey builds lives and unites communities through its on-ice and off-ice initiatives, including mentorship, tutoring, life lessons, and academic support in attending and graduating college. Photos: Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan Narrate Philadelphia Orchestra Performance of Candide

Thanks to the Philadelphia Orchestra for sending me these photos and copy. So bummed I can’t make any of the performances as I am already booked each night, but you can still see the show as it plays two more times, tonight and tomorrow night.

In a capstone to our Leonard Bernstein centenary celebration, we present his quirky, complex, irreverent, and very humorous operetta Candide, with orchestral staging. First performed in 1956, the work has come into its own in recent decades, thanks to Bernstein’s endless musical inventiveness and collaborators from Stephen Sondheim to Dorothy Parker (and of course, Voltaire, who wrote the original story, published in 1759).

(L-R) Alek Shrader (Candide), Timothy McDevitt (Maximilian), Carey Mulligan (Narrator), Bradley Cooper (Narrator)

Stage Director Kevin Newbury set the production in 1992, unfolding in a high-school classroom and inspired by films such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Dazed and Confused. The characters are portrayed as the archetypes of early-1990s high-school life: Candide as the bookish nerd, Cunegonde as the ambitious head cheerleader, Paquette as the introverted goth, and Maximilian as the flamboyant drama club president. The story traces how these characters change from naïve teenagers to expectant graduates.

A few tickets are still available for Friday and Saturday night shows.

This blog entry is dedicated to my friend Scott Righter, who passed away earlier this week and we will be sending home tonight.

BRADLEY COOPER FILMING IN RIDLEY PARK, PA

As I reported back in August on Fox 29’s Good Day Show, Bradley Cooper began filming The Silver Lining Playbook in Ridley Park, Pa. Friday. (About 5 miles from Philadelphia)
The movie, which is based on the novel by Matthew Quick (which was set in Collingswood, NJ but maybe moved to Pa for the tax credits.), stars Cooper as a former high school teacher who is committed to a mental institution for depression. He is later released and begins wooing his former wife, but instead falls for her neighbor. Jennifer Lawrence is attached to play the neighbor, while Robert De Niro will play his father. Chris Tucker has also signed on to the movie. (A photographer friend sent me these shots of Bradley Cooper filming in Ridley Park, Pa. The scene consisted of Bradley running up and down the street in a plastic bag outfit, check out additional shots at www.splashnews.com.) You’ll recall DeNiro and Cooper filmed “Limitless” in Philadelphia in 2009. Guess they like us, they really like us. This week filming location is on 200 block of Madison in Upper Darby, PA. Tomorrow I will have lots of details from Tuesday’s film shoot.
(I also see that PhillyFilmGirl is all over this movie. Follow her on Twitter, check out her site)
