Fireworks on The River; Father’s Day Dinner

THE Middle of June is happening already, time is at warp speed. My favorite time of the year is coming up – July 4th, so many activities to celebrate our country, and a gathering of family and friends. Rivers Casino has a full calendar of fun events, and delicious food choices. For Father’s Day they are having a special: Join us at Jack’s Bar + Grill this Father’s Day for the $25 Grilled NY Strip special! I had it a few months ago when I went to see Taylor Dayne and it was delicious. What a great day to eat on the river with Dad!

Jack’s menu features favorites like the Liberty Bell Pretzel served with beer cheese and spicy mustard, and the Pecan Crusted Salmon served with a maple bourbon glaze, mashed potatoes, and sautéed green beans. Jack’s is also the Philadelphia home of Flipt Burgers, a Rivers original. These fully customizable burgers never disappoint! Jack’s Bar + Grill is the perfect casual bar on the water to sip on a signature cocktail, glass of wine or cold beer.

DJ, producer, and West Philly native DJ Jazzy Jeff continues his residency at Rivers Casino, with another free performance coming up Saturday, July 2, at 8 p.m. at the Jack’s Bar + Grill stage. The last show was packed, so get there early to get your grove on. INFO

DJ Jazzy Jeff is part of the upcoming entertainment at Rivers Casino, which is scheduled as follows:

  • 6/3: Jeffrey Osborne
  • 6/17: The Stylistics
  • 6/25: Rodney Carrington
  • 7/2: DJ Jazzy Jeff

More Fun Pride Events To Enjoy

Sofitel Philadelphia’s annual Drag Tea adds two more dates after selling out: June 19 and 26. Head to Philly Gay Calendar for other shows around town.

The Pride Celebrations continue in June as Philly Gay Pride Month with a month-long celebration! FCM Hospitality and owner Avram Hornik announce that Lola’s Garden, Juno, Parks on Tap (two locations), Morgan’s Pier, Harper’s Garden, Craft Hall, The Garden at Cherry Street Pier and Rosy’s Taco Bar will all work in unison to help raise funds for LGBTQ Philadelphia-based charities through Philly Gay Pride Month Cocktails for a Cause.

All eight locations will feature a special-colored cocktail that matches up with the eight colors of the Philadelphia Gay Pride Flag. All eight cocktails to match the eight colors in the Philly-specific and inclusive rainbow flag will raise money for four different charities. One dollar from all eight cocktails during the 30 days of June will go to support William Way LGBT Community Center, Attic Youth Center, Philly Asian Queer and Galaei. This stance in social solidarity hopes to shine light to the various communities that the celebration of national Pride month helps represent, being mindful to include all groups that help make Philadelphia the amazing, diverse community it is. FCM Hospitality will compile donations from all venues and equally divide them between the organizations which were selected for their dedicated work and ongoing efforts to focus on intersectional populations. Additionally, FCM Hospitality will host the first-ever Philly Gay Pride Day at Parks on Tap at Trail’s End on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

The 2nd incHUGHbator Networking Event

In 2013 I had an idea to bring my friends in the Media and PR for a party in hopes of collaborating on projects, as well as get tips on pitching the media.

The first event was more of a networking panel event. I spy Danielle Triplett, Kristyn Aldrich, Kory Aversa and Kristen Johanson. (they were at Monday nights event as well) It was a great success, many of those folks did collaborate on future projects, as well as made connections with the media.

I’ve always wanted to do another one, but time was not on my side until last night. Capital Grille (Broad and Chestnut) and I partnered on my 2nd InHUGHbator. This time I decided to do a less former get together, but still invite media, PR (many of whom have hired me my entire career.) I didn’t do a panel, or speak this time, but I did take everyone around and made introductions including the backgrounds of people, and potential story ideas. It’s fun to connect people.

Thanks to Capital Grille’s Taylor Orsini, Sales Manager and Chef Y Moore for a delicious night. Did you know they have 5 event spaces you can host your own event. Also thanks to our server Tamara. Ask for her when you stop in for a bite to eat. I recommend the sirloin steak with a wedge salad.

Gloria Esposito, PR, Miguel Martinez-Valle, NBC10/Telemundo and Drew Smith, NBC10
Bill Gehrman, Enroute Marketing and Lisa Stephano, PHS

Danielle Triplett, AACR, Marilyn Russell, WOGL and Lisa Stephano, PHS

Leslie Patterson-Tyler, Kimmel Center, Cari Feiler Bender, Relief Communications and Kristen Johanson, KYW1060

Although Capital Grille was generous with the size of my event, I wanted to keep it manageable at 30 – 35 people. I invited about 75 people and deleted the FB invite as soon as I hit 35 people.
Michelle Miller, Alex Holley, Fox 29, Leslie Patterson Tyler, Kimmel Center and Marilyn Russell, WOGL
Karin Copeland, Create X Change and Skip Massengill
My Fox29 TV Family – Alex Holley, Shaina Humphries and Mike Jerrick. I did invite friends from CBSPhilly (they were preparing for the telethon today and couldn’t make it. Go support them please) and 6ABC but they weren’t able to make it.
Hey Sheila Hess, City Rep, Thanuja Hamilton, M.D., Justin Pizzi, Visit Philly, Kristyn Aldrich, experimental marketing
Thanks everyone for coming. Camera shy Rachel Vigoda Eater Philly, Michelle Conron, Cashman & Associates, Nichole Maher, Philly Style Magazine, Amanda Wozniak, Hoopla PR, Nick P (T’s Boyfriend),
Natanya DiBona, Diner en Blanc, Lauren Lipton, KYW106 and
Emmanuel Capó, Telemundo
If you want to be considered for the next incHUGHbator, you don’t have to be a client, just in media, a business and or a PR person. I’ll add you to the list HughE @ PhillyChitChat.com. Also if you want PhillyChitChat in your email box everyday, subscribe at the top of the page. Thanks and have a great day!!

Hadas Kuznits and Dan Reinherz Wedding at the Loews Hotel

Saturday Mike and I were excited to attend the wedding of our friends Hadas Kuznits and Dan Reinherz at the Loews Hotel.
It was a beautiful ceremony
Open on all four sides, the chupah is reminiscent of Abraham, our forefather’s house which had entrances on all four sides in order to warmly welcome any approaching guests.
Hadas dress came from the Van Cleave Salon. Abby McGrath was instrumental in finding just the right dress for her.

Hadas wedding dress was really gorgeous with a lot of detail, it even had Swarovski Crystal in her veil on on her dress. (I told her later we could make a few necklaces.)
Hadas wanted a very traditional Hebrew wedding. Here she walks around the man three times. Dan also walked around her, which made it more modern. The Wedding Ceremony is in two parts, separated by the reading of the ketubah. The kiddushin or erusin (consecration or betrothal) begins with two blessings recited by the Rabbi over a cup of wine
The ketubah is then read and seven nuptial blessings. Concluding the ceremony, the chatan (man) breaks a glass as a reminder of the destruction of the second Beit Hamikdosh, the second Holy Temple, the frailty of human relationships and the existence of human suffering. This action is a personal reminder that just as we accept joy into our lives we recognize that there may also be times of sorrow.
You are my soul mate, my sweetheart, you are my dream come true, from now until the end of time I give my heart and soul to you.
You may hold my hand for a while, but you hold my heart forever.

gorgeous. Haddas had her hair done by Joey at Giovanni & Pilleggi, make up by Nices Riddles. The wedding coordinator was David Morris.
David Hall, Director of Catering at the Loews Hotel, did a magnificent job. He had a busy weekend too as the Loews hosted over 5 weddings – WOW
At our table were Nicole Cashman and Nigel Richards as well as Matt Vlahos and Jimmy ContrerasEvan Moskow and Cori Moskow, Gloss PR and Koray Avci and Clare Pelino, Profile PR (Koray has that cute shop that sells Turkish gifts in Liberty Place. Last year he, Clare, Hadas and another table mate, Ken McCoy all traveled to Turkey. They go every year. Mike and I have signed up for 2013)Hadas tells me that she audition lots of bands and EBE was able to do The horah (הורה), which is a traditional circle dance. I was impressed, they learned it just for her wedding.
Red Velvet
At one point during the wedding, the couple is to be entertained by the guests.
4 generations of dancing. Hadas’ grandmother travelled all the way from Israel, as did many of her guests.
so fun
Hadas and her dad Joel Kuznits
Gretchen
Nicole. Cori. Jamyra
I love this shot of Hadas and her BFF Marlo Polonsky
Red Velvet cake. They did do a little smashing, not too out of control like the couple that then get in a fight and occasionally end up in jail. Actually after this Dan was joined by the band and sang a song he wrote especially for Hadas. Aaahhhh, and it was really sweet.
Flowers were from Eventricity
After party munchies included cheese steaks, Tastykakes, and other Philly Favorites.Congratulations Dan and Hadas!!
