Snow Street Style on Saturday

Saturday was a dream day for me, snow in December while the streets are bustling with holiday shoppers.  I shot a lot of great scenes, and saw a lot of stylish people out and about. Here are a few…

Snow

City sidewalk, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style.
In the air there’s
A feeling of Christmas.

Snow
$10 penguin to help you learn to skate at Rothman River Rink at Dilworth Park

Children laughing, people passing,
Meeting smile after smile,
And on every street corner you’ll hear:

Snow

Silver bells, silver bells,
It’s Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,
Soon it will be Christmas day.

Snow

City street lights,
Even stop lights,
Blink a bright red and green,
As the shoppers rush home
With their treasures.
I love anyone who wears Santa hat’s,

reindeer antlers in public.

Moves

or elf ears. They’re my kinda people.

Walter is ready for Winter

Snow Snow SnowHow great, the Running with the Santa’s on Saturday took place in the snow.

Christmas Village Moves, Engaged, Jen Carroll Returns

The weather outside was frightful, yesterday, which is exactly the kind of weather I like to photograph. I covered a lot of ground shooting scenes I envisioned in my head, and was excited would come true this year – A White Christmas,

Moves

or at least snow on holiday displays. I’ll be showing those photos tomorrow cause today it Philly Chit Chatter. Let’s see what’s happening with our neighbors….

Barely the dust settled and Christmas Village opened a few weeks ago to great fan fare. Last week was the 10th Anniversary celebration, when I took this shot of shoppers lining JFK Blvd to check out several vendor cabins that lined the street.

Yesterday to my surprise they had moved

Moves

inside to a newly opened section of Love Park, now the entrance to a Christmas Village is perfectly situated at the corner of 15th and JFK,

catty-corner from City Hall’s holiday festival and Philly Made vendors. AND now there’s tables to sit and enjoy all the delicious delights you can purchase at the Christmas Village.

Two weeks ago Philly born, Top Cheftestant fan favorite Jen Carroll, was on the Today Show in a chef showdown for best tailgate party. Jen had previously competed on Top Chef Season 6: Las Vegas & Season 8: All Stars. Now she’s returned to TOP CHEF this season to compete in Denver. “..four “Top Chef” veterans returned to compete against this season’s eliminated contestants. Jennifer Carroll, Kwame Onwuachi, Marcel Vigneron and Lee Anne Wong” (source)

Spotted at Parc restaurant, a flip phone with former Gov Ed Rendell and Councilman Allan Domb

Congrats to Irene and Ben who got engaged Friday night at The Miracle on South 13th Street

George and Laura who got engaged yesterday at the Phila Art Museum. It’s the engaging season.
See you tomorrow….

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Good Friday. We made it. Now get out there this weekend and finish you’re shopping. We can’t complain about the hustle and bustle of the season now that we have the internet. We choose to hit the malls and city streets because WE LIKE IT. It’s fun, we want to see people, we are people people and that’s what its all about. Have you been to Christmas Village yet, well go early or on the weekend cause it’s like the Schuylkill at 11AM, but definitely go. I did photograph my favorite things last week, but haven’t had a chance to post them yet. In the meantime check out Philly.com and Metro Philly’s favorite things to buy at the Christmas Village. They have great choices. OK let’s see what our neighbors have posted this week about the holidays….

Philippe Maidenberg Debuts New Project

Philippe Maidenberg Debuts New Project at Presidential City

The Post Brothers hosted a cocktail party to toast Philippe Maidenberg, the Paris-based architect, interior designer and furnishing designer who just completed his first project in the United States at The Adams Building within historic Presidential City. Philippe Maidenberg is a French, Paris-based architect, interior designer and furnishing designer. Born and raised in France, Maidenberg is best known for his architecture and interior work with hotels throughout Paris.

Project

Guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’Oeuvres while touring the building where Maidenberg designed the lobby, lounge, and model apartments for the newly renovated fourth tower at Presidential City.

Project
Caryn Liss,Jodee Kelsey and Gabriella Greco

Presidential City, one of Philadelphia’s most prestigious 20th century landmarks, epitomizes the vision of crafting a world-class living experience. Creatively reimagined to accommodate the lifestyles of urban-paced commuters and community-minded residents, the high-rise complex invites an identity of cosmopolitan sophistication and stately elegance. With fully renovated features, the residences maintain a Golden era prominence enhanced by contemporary comforts and modern amenities.

According to Hospitality Design Magazine: Maidenberg ‘s favorite architect is Frank Gehry because he “I’ve followed him since the ’80s. He has changed the way of creating. There is great documentary by Sydney Pollack called Sketches of Frank Gehry. A genius films another genius. You can see Gehry creating a building with pieces of carton and scissors like a very clever and sensitive kid would do. Then, the process gets more complicated.” (source)

That’s A Wrap!! M Night Shyamalan’s Glass Movie Shoots it’s last Scenes

That’s A Wrap!! M Night Shyamalan’s Glass Movie Shoots it’s last Scenes

M Night Shyamalan’s Glass movie wrapped Monday filming some of the last scenes of the movie in Old City, where ironically they filmed the first scenes of the movie in early October. Wrap

The film, a sequel to Unbreakable and Split, stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson, James McAvoy and Sarah Paulson, shot all over the City including South Philly for an entire week, before heading to Allentown in early November before returning to Philly last week where they filmed in Fairmount Park as well as at 30th Street Station. On Monday’s set Sarah Paulson, and M Night Shyamalan were spotted early in the morning filming scenes at La Famiglia Ristorante on Front Street, before heading to Market Street to film at Fork in the 300 block of Market Street, where they were filming a night time dinner scene.

Wrap

This is my favorite shot of the day because M Night Shyamalan just got done shooting a scene heading for lunch at Christ Church’s community hall, it was before he saw me, and he was reviewing the day in his head and really happy with how the film went.

Wrap
Sarah Paulson heading to her trailer, giving me that great smile. An overnight success, Sarah Paulson will no doubt have a remarkable career as she is incredible in all her diverse characters she plays.  I did fan girl out a bit yesterday, probably only happened once before with Madonna, I just could get a good shot. Sarah was patient and kept giving me great poses and smiles til I was satisfied. Thanks!!

Extras

1/20/18
https://hairothedog.com/tickets/

We love our extras. Thanks Heery Casting for casting just the right people.

Thanks to my readers for keeping me informed of when and where the movie was shooting. I couldn’t make it to the set as much as I wish I could have as it was the busy social season and I was BOOKED with two or three jobs a day. But you kept me informed and I really appreciate it.

I did have a quick sighting of the Hottie PA, but he left the set early to go work on his next project in Atlanta. A few of his fellow Pa’s came
over to say hi, and told me everyone had a good time with my post about him AND he even got girlfriend out of it who recognized him. If they get MARRIED it’ll be the 2nd time “I’ve written about a Hottie who went on to marry a girl they meant someway through my exposure.” In January Geoff Pierce is marrying Samantha Keenan” Remember he was the Hottie on the Art Museum Steps.

Friday Glass filmed at 30th Street Station with Anya Taylor-Joy, who was dressed as Casey Bear, sitting here among extras in the lobby. Later in the day Anya TaylorJoy was sitting curbside dining at a.kitchen with fiance actor Eoin Macken. In between bites the duo were oblivious to the busy sidewalk filled with holiday shoppers as they partook in a lot of PDA.

Saturday night Anya Taylor-Joy was spotted at the Glass wrap party at Suraya the popular daytime restaurant in Fishtown, with Night, James McAvoy and crew. Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson had finished their time on the set when filming completed in Allentown before Thanksgiving. Willis attended the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes show Saturday with his kids and wife Emma.

That’s A Wrap for Glass movie shoots. I’ll have a few more fun shots and film info later this week in my wrap up.

South Street Celebrates The Holidays

South Street Lights Up Headhouse Sq For the Holidays with a Train Display

What a whirlwind of tree lightings and holiday happenings in and around Philly this weekend. One of my favorites is the South Street Headhouse Square celebration, with it’s mini parade down the famed street with Santa riding on top of a firetruck to 2nd & Lombard where they lit the tree.

The Boy Scouts led the parade, which kicked off at 430pm at 6th and South Streets

Santa made his way down South Street on Ladder 11

This girl wins the week. After Santa waved at her she jumped up and down so much her hat and “beard” flew off

Santa brought his elf, who happens to be his niece. It was the first time she rode with him. She did a great job.
Bridget Hoy walked the parade as Rudolph.

NIIC the Singing Dog The Music Dog of Philly , although I thought he was a cat or fox, thoughts?

I support the Salvation Army, and when I saw this bucket was dedicated to helping Puerto Rico & the US Virgin Islands I was really happy
We need to keep Puerto Rico and the Islands in our prayers, and help them anyway we can. I can’t imagine what it is like to live without everyday creature comforts.
Hey readers, thanks for your support

The line for Santa was seriously long, and everyone waited patiently.
Santa and Mike Harris, Executive Director South Street

Bex from CBS3 and Today’s 96.5 emceed the event. She solved a mystery and told the crowd Bex was a nickname for Rebecca.
For last night only local train enthusiasts brought their hobby to the Headhouse to the delight of everyone.

Merry Christmas and head down to South Street’s Headhouse and check out their beautiful Christmas Tree. It’s a great historic photo opp as well, especially in the snow. Perhaps next Saturday as some are predicting a snow storm coming up the coast.

Oh Christmas Tree – 7 Fabulous Holiday Photos From Social Media

Every year I love to look at Social Media and everyone’s Christmas Trees and holiday photos. Each week I will pick my favorites, which I think you’ll love as well. It’s early in the holiday season and I only found a few holiday shots. Later this week I’m sure the internet will be buzzing with lots of holiday cheer.

Fabulous

South Philly’s Keith Fatula – the one tradition he maintains is putting up his UM Hurricanes ornament.

On #GivingTuesday, Child Advocates staff, Board members, donors and friends gathered to
kick off Toy Drive season of giving. Guests were encouraged to bring a toy and to enjoy
refreshments at the drop off headquarters One Logan Square, 130 North 18th Street, 12th Floor, throughout the day. Child Advocates set a lofty goal of $10,000 for #GivingTuesday –
but surpassed that raising $23,000 for abused and neglected children in need. The deadline to deliver toys to our Toy Drive headquarters is Thursday, December 14th, 2017. Please do not wrap gifts, give candy, or weapon-themed toys.
INFO HERE for suggested ways of giving

South Jersey’s fashionably conscious Dr. Nina Radcliff traditionally prepares a gingerbread house every year with her daughter. I’m hoping she wears something like this to the Philly Style Magazine party in a few weeks. Everyone always wears black, and well I prefer candy cane colors. Happy Holidays – see you on Social Media and Monday Morning….

Happy holidays is in full swing, despite that autumn looking tree outside your window.  Let’s see what happy news is happening to our friends.

Denise
Congrats to Denise Nakano, NBC 10, who announced her engagement earlier this week, at the same time as dropping some headline news: Megan Markle’s engagement and that her diamond is not from Botswana. Speaking of engagements, Congrats to Michelle Conron, Cashman & Assocs. on her engagement to fiance Chris. A 2018 wedding is
planned.

Congrats to Stephanie Humphrey on her new gig on The Harry Show. She still appears locally on Fox 29’s Good Day Show

Celebrity Sightings: LeBron James ignoring a fan while cruising through the Ritz Carlton lobby to waiting buses to take his team, Cleveland Cavaliers, to Wells Fargo on Monday 11/27/17

Holiday Happenings: Despite last night’s earthquake the lighting ceremonies of Holiday Tree happened across the City including in East Passyunk and Old City.

Tonight the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest celebrates their Holiday Tree Lighting Powered by PECO from 6-9PM. This year, multi-award winning R&B songstress Chanté Moore will headline the event, singing songs from her first-ever Christmas album, “Christmas Back To You,” which consists of classic remakes and original songs alike. I’ll be heading to the Philly Pops Christmas Concert at the Kimmel Center, through December 19, 2017. TICKETS HERE. Tonight it’s Christmas Salute, the Philly Pops entertain military, as well as fire and police families in Philadelphia.

On Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, Ardmore will get into the holiday spirit with the fourth annual Cricket Cringle event along Cricket Avenue in Downtown Ardmore. Cricket Cringle will be open TONIGHT, December 1 st from 5pm-9pm and Saturday, December 2 nd from 10am-6pm. The market will feature more than 40 curated merchants, food trucks and vendors in the holiday marketplace selling specialty merchandise at all price points. Vendors will carry local or handcrafted items including jewelry, housewares, clothing, greens, wreaths, and gifts for all ages. I’ll be there Saturday afternoon photographing all the fun festivities. Don’t forget to participate in their popular and beneficial Downtown Dollar Program. Check out the information here.

Denise

Saturday December 2 I’m heading to Suburban Square to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to the courtyard! Santa will arrive in style and wants to have his picture taken with all the good boys and girls (I’ll probably get coal)! You get to take home a free photo with Santa. There will also be village carolers, a magician, kids crafts and lots of treats! I’ll be shooting Santa’s arrival between Noon and 1PM Suburban Square is located in the heart of downtown Ardmore on Lancaster Avenue (Route 30), just a few miles west of City Avenue.

SUNDAY IS THE JACK DANIEL’s Hot Toddy 5K – Register for the 2017 Jack Daniel’s Hot Toddy 5k before it sells out! Registration ends Friday night. I’ll be on hand to capture the run from 9am til 1PM Hope to see you.

THEN it’s off to cover the South Street Holiday Tree Lighting. Celebrate the spirit of the season as South Street Headhouse District presents our annual extravaganza Winter Wonderland on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at the Historic Headhouse Square Shambles on 2nd Street, 200 Pine Street .
