Philadelphia GLBT Parade, Fashion, Fun and Fran Drescher at the annual Festival on Penns Landing

After volunteering in the morning for the Delaware Valley Stroke Council Walk I got a late start for the annual pride parade proudly making it’s way down Market Street, past our country’s most historic and meaningful symbols on their way down to Penns Landing for the festival.

Rudy Flesher and Jim Donovan MC the parade

Philly Tim and his new friend

Say hi to my new friend Bobby Dumron, he approached me to tell me he follows me on Instagram, so he’s winning already – LOL. Bobby just came out this past year and this was his first gay pride; he was loving it. He’s wearing his fav jersey of out soccer player Robbie Rogers. He’s a big sports fan, adorable and employed. Single and looking for Mr. Right more than Mr Right Now. So when you see him say hi!

OMG Henri David’s outfit, and Mayor Nutter’s laid back outfit

Fran Drescher greets Mayor Nutter on stage. Sid you know Fran’s first husband was gay, her 2nd husband owns the patent that created email.

Photos: Katie English and Ryan Gagnon’s Wedding at the Franklin Institute

Saturday my friends Katie English & Ryan Gagnon were married at The Franklin Institute. It was a beautiful wedding, and intimate event with most guests related to the bride or groom and a handful of friends.

Ryan waiting to approach the “alter.” Although the service wasn’t held in a Catholic Church, it was a Catholic service with a priest. no communion.
Ready for the bride

Introducing Mr and Mrs Ryan Gagnon
Christie Honigman was one of the bridesmaids. Katie and Christie met through me. Katie would hire me to shoot a few of her clients, after a mutual friend recommended me, now who was that, I think it was Greta Baith, anyway after about a year I said to Katie, who had just moved back to Philly, I said you should meet my girlfriends, and at my birthday party 3 years ago they all met.

I see Kristin found a friend, next to her is Billy Duffy an English guitarist and songwriter,
best known as the guitarist in The Cult and his girlfriend, who was Katie’s college roommate and one of her bridesmaids.

Congratulations Ryan and Katie.

#PopeInPhilly Transportation Details for World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit

MAYOR NUTTER AND CITY OFFICIALS RELEASE TRANSPORTATION DETAILS FOR WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES & PAPAL VISIT

PS I was surprised they didn’t mention that Center City streets would be closed to vehicular traffic during that period, I heard from more than a half dozen sources. So if you’re getting out of dodge and you want car service to take you to airport, or you want to drive yourself, leave Tuesday, Wednesday or the latest early Thursday. Here’s what the City did release, with hint of this news I just gave you.
Philadelphia, June 16, 2015
– Mayor Michael A. Nutter, City and agency officials announced
preliminary information about public transportation options during the
World Meeting of Families convening, September 22-25, 2015, and the
weekend of the Papal Visit, September 26-27, 2015.
“At this point, we are
about three months away from hosting the largest event in this City’s
history,” said Mayor Nutter.  “We wanted to begin sharing information
with residents and business owners as soon as
possible so that they can begin making arrangements for this week,
whether they plan to attend any of the World Meeting of Families events
or just need to go about their daily routines.  Make no mistake, the
City of Philadelphia will have the world’s attention,
and we are doing our part to be as prepared and coordinated as
possible.”
With more than 1.5
million people expected for the Papal Visit on Saturday and Sunday, and
substantial crowds for the World Meeting of Families convening during
the week, it is critical for visitors and residents
to understand the logistics involved in getting into Center City
Philadelphia.  Travelers should keep in mind:
·
Be prepared to walk to your destination after debarking transit—up to a couple of miles

·
Private vehicles will not be a viable transportation option
·
Public transportation routes and schedules will be vastly altered for efficiency and capacity
·
Continue to
check WorldMeeting2015.org for transportation updates and sign up to
receive the Papal Visit Playbook, a guide for residents and visitors to
navigate Center City neighborhoods during
the event.

SEPTA
During the World Meeting
of Families convening, September 22-25, the Southeastern Pennsylvania
Transportation Authority (SEPTA) will operate all services on normal
weekday schedules. During the Papal Visit on
Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, service will be
truncated drastically throughout the rail network to accommodate the
events and maximize operational efficiency.
SEPTA will reduce the
number of stations that will be used from the usual 282 to 31 on its
Regional Rail, Market-Frankford Line subway/elevated, Broad Street Line
subway, trolley lines and Norristown High Speed
Line.  (The 31 stations are boarding locations only and are
shown as blue dots on the SEPTA system map attached.) Event drop-off
locations in Center City will be announced at a later date.
City officials urge
those who will take SEPTA to plan ahead. Regular riders who rely on
SEPTA for daily commuting will likely be severely impacted by the
adjustments made to accommodate event attendees and should
plan accordingly.
A special $10, three-day
SEPTA transit pass, valid from Saturday, September 26 through Monday,
September 28, will be sold for travel on subways, buses and trolleys.
Standard SEPTA passes and tokens can also be
used on these transit modes.   For Regional Rail, a one-day special
event pass valid for Saturday, and another valid for Sunday, will be
sold for $10 each in advance.
Only those riders with the pre-purchased special event passes will be permitted to ride Regional Rail.
Quantities for sale will be limited to the number of riders SEPTA can
carry on the vehicles in operation. No passes will be sold on the day of
the
event.
The following is a summary of the major service
adjustments SEPTA is planning to make for the weekend of the Papal
Visit, September 26-27:
Regional Rail: SEPTA will maximize service
capabilities by shrinking the railroad. The number of stations served
will be significantly reduced and trains will operate express-type,
pick-up only service to the event from 18 select
outlying stations. Similarly, post-event service will express from
Center City Philadelphia to the selected outlying stations.
At this time, SEPTA plans to operate pick-up only service at these specific stations:
·
Paoli/Thorndale Line – Paoli and Radnor Stations
·
Norristown/Manayunk Line – Norristown Transportation Center
·
Chesnut Hill West Line  – Chestnut Hill West Station
·
Lansdale/Doylestown Line – Lansdale and Fort Washington Stations
·
Warminster Line – Warminster Station
·
West Trenton Line – Woodbourne Station
·
Fox Chase Line – Fox Chase Station
·
Trenton Line – Croydon and Cornwells Heights Stations
·
Media/Elywn Line –  Media and Primos Stations
·
Wilmington/Newark Line – Wilmington and Marcus Hook Stations
·
Airport Line –  Terminals C & D, Terminal B and Eastwick Station
Market-Frankford Line:
Similar to Regional Rail, pick-up only service will be available
westbound from Frankford Transportation Center and the Girard Avenue
Station; eastbound pick-up only service will
operate from 69th Street Transportation Center and 52nd
Street Station, with drop-offs at yet-to-be-determined Center City
stations.  After the event, service will express back to the outlying
stations. Riders will not be able to board
or exit the Market-Frankford Line from any other stations.
Broad Street Line:
Pick-up service will operate northbound from AT&T Station only;
southbound pick-up service will be available at Fern Rock Transportation
Center and the Cecil B. Moore Station, with drop-offs
at yet-to-be-determined Center City stations.  Riders will not be able
to board or exit the Board Street Line from any of the other stations.
Trolley:  Operating normal service:  Route 15 Service from 63rd & Girard; Route 11 and 13 service from Darby Transportation Center; Route 34 Trolley service from 61st
& Baltimore; Route 36 Service from 60th & Eastwick.
There will also be service from a limited number of stations on the
Norristown High Speed Line and Route 101 Media and Route 102 Sharon Hill
Trolley Lines.
Bus: At least 26
buses in the Center City and surrounding areas will be on detours due to
street closures. Select bus routes will operate on weekday schedules
throughout the weekend to accommodate ridership
increases.
SEPTA will provide complete service information and updates on its website,
www.septa.org.
Amtrak
Amtrak is prepared to move significant
numbers of people into and out of Philadelphia for the World Meeting of
Families convening.  Amtrak officials are working closely with partners
at SEPTA and New Jersey Transit (NJ TRANSIT)
to optimize schedules and accommodate as many people as possible.
Amtrak will monitor and adjust seat inventory as needed as the World
Meeting of Families approaches.  Officials encourage passengers to book
tickets as far in advance as possible, and based
on those bookings Amtrak will add coaches – and possibly even operate
extra trains – as necessary.
All Amtrak trains will require reservations the weekend of the Papal visit.  Passengers will not be permitted to purchase tickets on board trains.
Amtrak will provide complete service information and updates on its website,
www.amtrak.com.
Philadelphia International Airport
Philadelphia
International Airport (PHL) officials are looking forward to welcoming
visitors from around the world for the World Meeting of
Families convening and the Papal Visit.   PHL expects a significant
increase in the number of national and international travelers arriving
in the days and weeks leading up to the event.  PHL officials are
working closely with partners at SEPTA to ensure that
passengers and employees are able to travel to and from the Airport.

PHL will provide complete service information and updates on its website,
www.phl.org.
NJ TRANSIT
NJ
TRANSIT officials are developing a transportation plan for the World
Meeting of Families convening and Papal Visit that will accommodate as
many customers as possible, recognizing the physical
constraints of the system. However, there are key pieces of information
that customers planning to use NJT need to know as it will not be a
typical weekend travel experience.
NJ
TRANSIT’s regular weekend service on the Atlantic City Rail Line and
River Line will NOT operate on September 26-27.  NJ TRANSIT will offer
special tickets targeted specifically for the
different service options that will be available. Those tickets will go
on sale later this summer.   No one will be allowed to board without a special ticket – passengers will not be permitted to purchase tickets on board trains.
NJ TRANSIT will provide complete service information and updates on its website,
www.njtransit.com.
PATCO
The
Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) will provide express,
non-stop service westbound to Center City Philadelphia on September
26-27
between each of the following four New Jersey stations and 9th/10th & Locust Streets station:
·
Lindenwold
·
Woodcrest
·
Ferry Avenue
·
Broadway/Camden/ Walter Rand Transportation Center
Passengers can board only at these four stations and all passengers will disembark at 9th/10th & Locust Streets station
in Philadelphia.  There will be no PATCO service or operations at any station other than those above.
For the return trip eastbound to New Jersey, trains will depart 9th/10th & Locust Streets station and stop only at the
stations listed above.
Special
fares will be in effect on September 26-27.  A one-day pass will cost
$5.00 and a two-day pass will cost $10.00.  Customers who have
FREEDOM cards will be able to pay $2.50 for a one-way single ride.
FREEDOM card one-day and two-day passes can be purchased prior to the
dates of travel, beginning in mid-July.
There
are spaces for approximately 3,300 cars at the PATCO Lindenwold
station, 1,900 spaces at PATCO Ferry Avenue station and 2,700 spaces at
PATCO Woodcrest station.  PATCO does not offer parking spaces at the
PATCO Broadway station in Camden.  Passengers should expect parking
spaces to fill quickly.  Broadway-Camden serves as the transfer point
for New Jersey Transit buses and the RiverLINE at
Walter Rand Transportation Center.

PATCO will provide complete service information and updates on its website,
www.ridepatco.org.

Philadelphia Burger Brawl: The People, The Burgers, The Stories, The Fashion

 Remember the First Burger Brawl in 2011, in the school yard of the Meredith Elementary School to raise funds to buy the school computers;

well the 5th Burger Brawl is light years removed from those days where 17 different chefs competed for the best tasting burger. London Grill won the honors that year. (Best story from that day, the fire department showed up because the neighbors didn’t know where all the smoke was coming from.)

This year the competition was held in Xfinity Live’s parking lot, where nearly 60 chef’s competed for the coveted title and over 4,000 people stopped by to raise money for all of Philadelphia schools. This year a record $208,000 was raised.
Two of the judges at Burger Brawl: Arthur Etchells, Foobooz and Danya Henninger, Billy Penn
Tickets were only $35 to attend the event, and eat all the burgers you wanted. By the time I got there at 430PM, a few of the places were out of burgers, but that wasn’t too bad cause I still have 5-6 b4 I killed those stomach growls.
Rob Wasserman (owner of Rouge and 500º, both of who participated in the event but didn’t compete) co-founder of Burger Brawl with his wife Maggie, and Marc Summers, Food Celebrity.
 Rocky 2

Anastacia Lyons and Chef Jason Cichonski of Gaslight.

Blue Duck had the longest line all day long, and
later went on to win for the 2nd year in a row the audience with their
duck burger with red onion and 1732 brand jalapeno, bacon jam and smoked
Gouda on brioche.

Near the back of the line for the Blue Duck burger, and still smiling like they just finished it.
Megan and Kylie with the Village Whiskey Burger (“The VW Frenchy” a beef patty with sauce au poivre, Gruyere, Cabernet grilled onion, and black truffle aioli,) which won the Judges Choice Award.
A few of my favorite burgers

Jason Brooke and Jackie Wall of Zavino Hospitality Group and the new wine bar, Tredici.
More photos of tredici here. I hear it’s on schedule for “back to school” time.

Nick Mezzinna and Fleming Kerr of Misconduct Tavern, look for a mid July opening of their new franchise at 18th and JFK.

The Philly.com Team: Tim Reardon, Nick Vadala and Colin Kerrigan, who has the hard task of editing my columns at the prolific news site. Check out Monday’s column, The Young Professionals dance at the Barnes Museum.

City Tap House with Collin Greiger, Chad Vetter and Laura Pease . Yesterday afternoon I wrote about the PHS/City Tap House pop-up beer garden not happening. These peeps didn’t tell me, I found out about it at the Great Chef’s event, but when I saw them yesterday it reminded me that I didn’t write about it yet. The story goes that the logan square building ie the Bell Atlantic Building, was not in the shape to build it out for a beer garden, the best beer garden. It’ll be ready by next year.

The unofficial, but com’on people, the next mayor of the great city of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney and his squad: Stephanie Waters, Jane Slusser and Lauren Hill.

Judges for the event included my pals: Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley, District Attorney Seth Williams, Schools
Superintendent William Hite, Marc Summers, Dei Lynam, Steve Morrison, Casey from Q102, and Marilyn

Sightings: Taylor Swift, Alicia DiMichele, Big Ang, Barry Manilow, Vance Joy

First of all Happy 4000th post for me! In just one more month I will be celebrating PCC 8th Year of covering Philly Fun, Parties, Celebrity Sightings, and most importantly YOU!!
Thank YOU!!
I know all week I was tweeting that Taylor Swift would probably stay at the Rittenhouse as she like’s her garages and avoiding the fans outside, but surprisingly she stayed at the Ritz hotel cause just like us the
hotel rate does play a part in where we choose to lay our heads (and her record company makes those decisions.) Here’s
the story and a few other celeb sightings in Philly this weekend.

Aaahh Taylor Swift, I so adore her as you all know. I couldn’t go this weekend cause it was wedding weekend for one of my friends, but I thought I would swing by the Ritz Hotel to see if I could get a shot. The only time I had to do it was Friday late night. And boy was it a late night. She’s a late nighter, you’ll recall the last time I photographed Taylor Swift she had just had dinner at Ralph’s in South Philly finishing up about 3AM. I told you about the police escort, and the $500 tip she left on the $800 bill (BTW that story popped up in the press again today because another celeb left a big tip somewhere.) Her generosity is legendary, and she is very good to her swifty’s,

which she proved again this weekend meeting fans,

especially the couple of super fans (Katy Harris and Chris Eisenmann ) who were married in the parking lot before the concert, and a young cancer patient who’s meeting was arranged by the famous Dover policeman who sang “Shake It Off”, which basically is what I’ve done since my run in with Swifty’s bodyguard on Friday Night at The Ritz Hotel.

I was waiting for Taylor with a few other fans and photographers. When Taylor’s bodyguard and the rent a security people from the hotel tried to dissuade us from waiting. Going as far as trying to tell us that the sidewalk in front of the Ritz was private property, and the photographing of the said private property. Interesting they said they knew who I was, but I guess they don’t think I know the law is, first of all I was a paralegal for 20 years, secondly I’ve been a paparazzi (as well as that Society Photographer, I wear a couple hats in this City) for 8 years, shooting in NYC for 5 years,

I know what the law is and missy from the Ritz, it doesn’t seem like you do. Anyway, swifty’s bodyguard saw that we weren’t going to give up gave me a nice body check while at the same time telling me what I was doing was illegal (which BTW we have on video cause TMZ was there.) Unfortunately I was really pissed off that Friday night when right after the incident happened, but looking back on it it’s not a big deal, their job is to intimidate, my job is to get a photo/story and I have one. It’s going to be a long, hot summer, so I thought I’d enlighten the Ritz with my Photo Rights.

What’s amazing is after performing for 100ks over the weekend Taylor Swift flew to California and threw a fabulous baby shower for her friend Jaime King.

I was entertained by one of Taylor Swift’s back up dancers who decided to give us a show after he told us a little about the party.

Until the Dilworth Park security kicked him out.I think you can tell that it must have been some amazing party that Taylor threw in the Linc Parking Lot at Loft 89. The reason the party was in the parking lot was because Taylor’s concert went longer than she expected and the stadium had a midnight curfew, so the party was held outside in the parking lot.

Team Derek greeted Barry Manilow when he arrived in town.

Photos: Sons of Ben: The Movie” Premier at the Trocadero

On Wednesday night at the Trocadero Theatre, “Sons of Ben: The Movie”

debuted in Philly at the Trocadero in front of many members of the Philadelphia Union’s
loud and crazy supporters’ club that made the film possible. The Sons of Ben overcame significant adversity to help bring an MLS
franchise to the region before embracing their new home in Chester by
doing important charity work in the beleaguered town.

Former Mayor Wendell Butler Jr. and his wife. Under his tenure West Chester grew with many opportunities; The most visible changes have come along the waterfront, where The Wharf
at Rivertown, PPL Park and Harrah’s Chester Racetrack and Casino anchor
the city’s economic development plan.

Star of the film Bryan  James and his family.
According to MLSsoccer.com, “The movie’s roots can be traced back to James, who was childhood friends
with filmmaker Jeff Bell. Intrigued by the unique concept that fans of a
team could come before the team itself, Bell reached out to James about
the potential for a documentary and began filming at PPL Park in 2012. ”

Another Great Philly Event Space Opens For Business…Jeffrey Miller Catering

It’s probably one of the top ten things people ask me about, what are my favorite event spaces in the City. I love the Top of the Tower, I love Sister’s Park Cafe, Union Trust, Please Touch, and new favorite list would include

The American Swedish Historical Museum in South Philadelphia which just underwent a million dollar renovation,

Tracey Beck, Executive Director of The American Swedish Historical Museum in South Philadelphia , Jeffrey Miller, President, Founder of Jeffrey Miller Catering and Mark Focht, First Deputy Commissioner of Parks & Facilities

do the honors cutting the ribbon to officially open the Jeffrey Miller Catering event space.

They had a media, friends and family party to showcase the newly renovated space, which included this fabulous permanent tent on the terrace in front of the museum, which had an expansive view of FDR Park.

Jeffrey Miller Catering is also celebrating their 35th anniversary this year.
Hors d’oeuvres were served under the Swedish Museum’s tented terrace.
Jeffrey Miller Catering is all inclusive with bartenders, servers, chef and
 their own pastry chef.
A lot of brides decided to take their vows on the lawn here
with the view of the City through the archway
Then it’s over to the tented area for the sit down reception, or you could have it cocktail style

Jeffrey A. Miller Catering started in 1980 as a brunch-in-bed school
project by founder Jeff Miller, then a sophomore at the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania. While studying entrepreneurship
during the school year, Jeff used his summers to train in some of the
best kitchens in the world, working in New York, London, and a Michelin
three-starred restaurant in the south of France.

 Mole Street Productions
Sean McGlingey and Amy Johann are getting married here in the fall. They fell in love with the grounds and the convenient parking.
Nicole Paloux, Red Balloon | Public Relations and Laura Shoup, Marketing Director at Jeffrey Miller Catering

Dyanne, Elizabeth and Laura
 Fred and Sandra Pfaff
Kristy Bergey, Mark Liss and Donna O’Brien
Jeffrey Miller Catering has a custom donut making station

 Lilia Londar and Micah Shapiro
Joe Ragone, Emily White and Jim Farrell. Emily and Jim are getting married at a Jeffrey Miller Catering property, and recently found out that Joe and his fiance are too, and they didn’t even recommended them, meaning they don’t get a toaster oven. OK I don’t really think that’s the gift you get for referring clients, do they even make toasters anymore? Here’s Emily and Jim’s wedding registry, send them a gift.

Tracey Beck, Executive Director of The American Swedish Historical Museum in South Philadelphia , Jeffrey Miller, President, Founder of Jeffrey Miller Catering and Mark Focht, First Deputy Commissioner of Parks & Facilities with the citation from the City honoring Jeffrey Miller.
Bob Waring and Debbie DJupman were excited to check out their space for their upcoming nuptials

After dinner guests cross the park over to the gazebo overlooking FDR lake to enjoy smores. Here’s the info you need to check out this space, and learn about Jeffrey Miller Catering. He has sites all over the Delaware Valley too.
