Over the past week a lot of folks have been searching Where is Mike Jerrick from Fox 29, and have landed in my blog. The above screen shot is from my blog search column for the last 3 days.
About a week ago Mike announced via his social media that he had Covid19 . I spoke to Mike on Monday to see how he was doing, and to convey a message to all those who are inquiring about him.
“The Virus comes and goes in waves, so I’m just trying to survive the ups and downs of this nasty situation. Not a great day today, but I am hopeful to bounce back soon. Stay safe everybody, and stay health. Thumbs up, fingers cross and a heart emoji.” Mike Jerrick

A few weeks ago Mike and I had dinner, and I was telling him about photos I came across of him in my files from when he was on Fox’s syndicated The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Hopefully this will cheer him up a bit. He had already done a stint in Philly at Fox 29, before the national show came calling. I was a fan of his work and went to see if I could catch a filming of the show. I did. Wish I were a better photographer at that time, I could have gotten a better shot of him.
Dolph Lundgren, Shania Twain, Monique Braxton and more Philly Gossip
Welcome to Spring, I hear it’s snowing again in the Western Suburbs today. I do hope all this late season snow doesn’t affect the cherry trees which are just starting to bud like the ones along the Schuylkill River Thursday, as collegiate scullers practiced, brrrrr
Dolph Lundgren and Michael B Jordon were spotted at Scarpetta on Rittenhouse Square last Tuesday. Earlier in the week Dolph posed with a young fan at the Logan Hotel.
Perhaps they were both attending the Logan Hotels’s new Once Upon A Time, once a month (4th Sunday) on Sunday’s children’s reading
hour with “James Logan” himself. Milk and cookies were on the hours.
Spotted: Shania Twain was seen a few times since October at Vedge, she told fans that spotted her that she has friends in Philly and comes here quite often. I know where I’m going to eat late night July 12.
While walking through Rittenhouse Square the other night, I noticed the top of the police “station” was newly lit. Nice job.
Saturday night in Philly was hopping. There was the Red Ball (Red Cross), The Red & White Gala (LLS), Black Tie Gay Bingo and 2018 Philadelphia UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball|UNCF, where The Today Show’s Sheinelle Jones was honored with the Legacy Award. As some of you know, I was on air at Fox 29 from 2011 – 2017, four of those years I would do celebrity gossip and scene chat on Good Day with Sheinelle and Mike Jerrick (who returns to Good Day Monday). I was so happy to hang with them last night, and I’m so grateful to both of them for all their mentor-ship. Also close by was Tori Williams, producer from Fox 29 and good friend of Sheinelle’s; plus Monique Braxton, formerly of NBC10 Philadelphia. She’s recently retired to care for her family, especially dad in his 90s. I’ll have the photos posted this week from these events and will share the links with you.
No color ever looked so appropriate on these ladies at The Red Ball
In the meantime have a great day, and go and make some memories.
Mike Jerrick Returns To Fox, Hang with Kevin Hart, Jimmy John’s Closed, Saxbys
PhillyChitChat Philly Gossip is late today, in fact it’s practically tomorrow. The Social Season is in full swing, and I have been shooting back to back events as well as partnering with TGIFriday’s and Capital One both of which had events Friday and Saturday. Some good news to start off your week…
Mike Jerrick returns to Fox 29’s Good Day Monday April 3. You’ll recall Mike took a few months off to recharge, and checked into a wellness center in NC. Well he’s recharged and rearing to go. He looks great doesn’t he? On Friday he will be hosting the annual Donor’s Are Hero’s “The Party”, as he’s done for the past decade. Nick over at Philly.com has an update from this morning HERE
Also back tomorrow is Quincy Harris and The Q Show on Fox 29 at noon. Condolences to Q who lost his mother last week after a valiant fight against cancer.
Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston wrap up the Untouchable movie this week. Although they’ve spent the last month filming at Aston Pa’s movie studio Sun City, there is one last outside scene to film as well, so hopefully I’ll be able to get a few photos for you. Don’t fret though if you haven’t had your chance to see Philly born Kevin Hart in person, he has been out and about quite a lot this past month between his surprise stand up comedy routines at Helium, and Punchline; he’s also been seen eating at Ocean Prime and Del Frisco’s. It was just announced that July 6th, his birthday, will be deemed Kevin Hart Day in Philadelphia. BUT Wait there’s one more chance to see Kevin Hart, up close and personal, and that’s on May 23, 2017 for the 32nd annual Arts + Business Council Awards Celebration where the winner of the Anne d’Harnoncourt Award for Artistic Excellence 2017 is Kevin Hart
Speaking of winners congratulations to legendary Inquirer food writer Michael Klein, who “got woke” and turned around his unhealthy habits and started on a new path which included eating less and setting out on a modest but consistent exercise regime. He just ran his first race on Saturday The Hot Chocolate 15k/5k Philadelphia. When I just checked the website it said every runner got a goodie bag, I thought it’d be something else but it was the running jacket Mike is wearing. (Mike Klein has in the past been my mentor, and is no doubt cringing from at least two of the run on sentences I probably have in this paragraph.)
Speaking of food, I was shocked when I walked by Jimmy John’s at 44 S 17th St, and saw it was CLOSED. The owner happened to be inside and told me he and the landlord were unable to agree on another lease. So bummed. There’s still a Jimmy John’s at 221 S 11th St, but he told me that was owned by someone else.
I see there’s an orange notices on the former nail salon, 42 S. 17th St. It says a take out restaurant is coming there, and next to that a new coffee shop is to opened called Swedish Espresso Bar – Konditori, 40 S. 17th St (Klein) How the times have changed for this building of tiny shops of service to now shops of eateries, next to the former Jimmy John’s at 46 S. 17th is the relatively new MeltKraft and around the corner, in the same building is now Chestnut Street Philly Bagel.
Saxbys has a new logo
and will be adding it to all their storefronts
Hate Has No Home Here is causing quite a stir in the SNJ burbs
as is this “Thin Blue Line” going down Merchant Street in Audubon. Seems it’s not up to state code. I kinda like it.
It looks like Smart Street Healthy Kitchen & Juice Bar is on the verge of opening at 38 S. 19th St., and they’re hiring. See you Thursday for more PhillyChitChat Gossip
What Happened to Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick? For weeks I’ve been getting this question online and in person while I was out at events. Today on Fox 29, and on Mike Jerrick’s webpage he bravely allowed us once again into his life.
Hi Everybody!
I wanted to let you know where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to the past few weeks.
First of all, I really appreciate your concern about my well-being and the well-being of my family. I really do!
For the last 13 plus years, I have been fighting a low-grade depression that has slowly increased in strength over that time. It deals with the loss of loved ones;
losses I have not addressed with the help of mental health professionals. I am finally tackling the issue now.
I am at a wellness retreat down south in the Carolinas. I call it a rehab for the mind, body, and soul.
For the past year and a half, medication and alcohol have not done it for me, and a combination of the two certainly has not been helpful. So, my goal is to get to the root of this down mood. Thankfully, this process is working beautifully! Don’t get it twisted, it has not been easy, but it was time to finally confront the negative feelings.
These are things we all have been through or are dealing with right now. I am no different than you. That is why I feel so fortunate and blessed to have the luxury of going away for help. Not everyone is fortunate to have this opportunity and I will not take it for granted.
I am full of gratitude for my ability to do this work, because of the generosity and understanding of my station’s General Manager, News Director, in fact, all of my co-workers and you the viewers, my TV family.
So far, this exercise has been amazing. I am rested, renewed, reenergized, and eager to get back to you every morning.
Again, I am so thankful you have allowed me this time to heal. I love you all and I will be back with you soon, I promise.
Mike

Hey it’s Thursday so that means another Philly Gossip column for you. Friday I’ll post Maria Papadakis’ wedding photos, then Sunday it’s more Philly Gossip, and Monday The Academy Ball Fashion Photos.
Mike Jerrick’s antics on Fox 29 have produced plenty of viral videos over the years. Who could forget his mimicking the Kardashian’s, or his hysterical Ryan Lochte interview with Shenielle Jones a 4 years ago, which became very popular again this past summer during the Olympics. Well no one was laughing at Fox on Monday when he accidentally said the word bullshit live on Good Day. (Although millions of people in the USA were cheering Right On Mike when the video went viral)
According to the national news site FT LIVE Fox29’s Philly Anchor Mike Jerrick has been suspended for a week by the parent company Fox after he said Kellyanne Conway is a good bullshitter accidentally on air Monday morning; and honestly she is; Kellyanne told Chuck Todd on Sunday’s Meet The Press that Spicer’s take on the supposed record breaking inauguration crowds was “Alternative Facts”, she even crack a shit eating grin herself, so calling her out was a natural response, but you’re probably not allowed to accidentally curse on TV.
Thursday President Trump will be in town at the Republican Retreat in Philly.
Call Fox National in support of Mike Jerrick 1 (888) 369-4762 to complain, not local Fox 29. The decision was made by parent company. And please don’t boycott Fox 29, they’re great people. I only reported on this because people make mistakes, he apologized. it’s my biggest fear to accidentally curse when I’m on TV. Even Fox News’ Mike Wallace hammered away at Trump’s Communications Director the other night, calling Trump a liar. I was impressed.
Another scary dude in town Bryan Cranston ie Breaking Bad’s Walter White. He’s filming a movie, Untouchable, with Nicole Kidmanand Kevin Hart. Remember Friday night Untouchable is filming car chase scenes on JFK and Market Street after 7PM until the wee hours of the morning. What I’ve read said the principle actors aren’t going to be there, but they are in town so I think they might pop in.
Kevin Hart’s been spotting around town. Today he worked out at City Fitness in the Graduate Hospital Area, which ironically no longer has a hospital in the area; last night he was at the Sixers game, with a million of my instagram friends it seems.
It was “M. Night Shyamalan Night,” at the Sixers’ game last night, in honor of his new movie “Split”, which opened last Friday with a stunning box-office comeback, earning $40.2 million over its opening weekend, giving it the No. 1 spot at the box office. That’s more money than “The Sixth Sense” made in its debut weekend ($26.7 million) and marks one of Shyamalan’s best openings — though it doesn’t quite match the impressive $60.1 million “Signs” took in over its 2002 opening weekend. Split stars James McAvoy and my friend in my headBetty Buckley, and filmed in Philly last year. At the Sixers game last night Night rang the Sixers’ ceremonial Liberty Bell. His daughter Saleka sang the National Anthem. Above is his wife, Bhavna Vaswani came out to support. (Thanks Sixers for the photos) BTW Saleka’s quite an artist as well, In the Sixth Sense, the artwork in the book about extraterrestrials was done by her.
Thanks Flyers for sending my niece Nicole, who was born and lives in Charlotte and is recovering from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, a nice care package. You made her day.
I had heard rumblings about Olympian Ryan Lochte’s new reality show. It seems Ryan is desperate to become as famous as legendary Michael Phelps.
For what I’ve seen and hear, Lochte is dumber than a box of rocks, but pretty rocks. Today he appeared via satilite on Good Day and demonstrated what we’re in for. He’s like Anna Nicole Smith on testosterone. Check out my vine of today’s Good Day Philly with clips which foreshadow the future, and an always calm, cool and collected Shenielle Jones reacting to the interview and Mike Jerrick is as funny as ever. (VOLUME Instructions: Put your cursor on the video and turn the volume on, it’s in the upper
left hand corner. Then move the cursor to remove the words.)
Vine is a 6 second stop and go video. It’s only available on IPhones and IPads, but can be watched on any device. I post them to Vine, FB and Twitter. (I bought a mini IPad just to get VINE. Go check out the site, so many awesome videos, clever and funny. Follow me: PhillyChitChat
Lochte’s reality show “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” will premiere Sunday, April 21 at 10 P.M. EST on E!. It will follow the athlete as “he prepares for the Rio games
in 2016 while building his fashion line, making buzz-worthy media
appearances, dealing with his unconventional family and loyal friends
and, always, searching for ‘the one’.”
Hey are you following me on Instagram yet, of course these pixs also upload to FB and Twitter so you can see them there too. Here’s two of my most popular ones of late.
