Late last month I attended the soft opening of the new Logan hotel, which transformed the infamous Four Seasons’ hotel into a youthful, art vibe, sleek hotel. Cashman & Assocs gave me a tour of the new hotel, and it was quite impressive.
The Logan is in Hiltonâs âCurio Collectionâ managed by Denver-based Sage Hospitality and is fresh, innovated and funky with it’s sleek designs,
art work, modern day amenities, gym, spa and new restaurant Urban Farmer, developed by Denver’s Sage Restaurant Group.
In the last weeks of Mayor Nutter‘s administration, he and Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger took a tour of the new Logan hotel
With it’s beautiful artwork done by local artists. Much more about that at the end of this entry.
When you enter the hotel you come face to face with some of the beautiful artwork that lives throughout the building. This is a chandelier comprised of more than 300 portraits of famous or important Philadelphians over the years including Walt Whitman, Ben Franklin and Marian Anderson.
As you head towards check out, or the lobby bar you’ll see PAFA grad Miguel Antonio Horn’s âMan of Ironâ which represents Philly through history and strength with it’s layers of steel that went into making it.
Not sure if this guy is going to get the same treatment as
Colombian artist Fernando Boteroâs enormous sculpture inside the
Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle where it’s supposed to be good luck to rub for good luck. I remember when I lived in NYC and they first installed it, then over time saw folks rub his member and pose for photos. At least they don’t have to clean it.

The gym has been renovated and expanded. The hotel even has it’s own spa, which I saw but it wasn’t photo ready yet.
The door in the distance is the exit and entrance to the Assembly, the roof top bar that you get to by taking these elevators. It opens in the spring and will definitely be one of my hangouts. It’s going to have a killer view.
Urban Farmer has done what the Four Seasons only talked about, and that is created an door to the outside without the customer walking through the lobby. Like the Kimpton properties, the restaurant is considered to be separate from the “hotel”, and is operated by a different PR company from the hotel, same as the Kimpton’s.

Something the Four Seasons’ was sorely lacking, conference room space. The Logan has corrected that by carving out two areas for conferences. One is even larger enough to hold events, and it’s tables were created with reclaimed wood (above).
Mayor Michael A. Nutter toasted the owners and new staff of the Parkwayâs historic and picturesque new addition – The Logan Hotel. Joe Santore, General Manager The Logan Hotel greeted the mayor and then gave him a tour around the property. The mayor told the gathered employees that the building had a special place in his heart as he and his wife Lisa, had brunch in the Swann Fountain 24 years ago the day after they were marriage. The mayor marveled at all the art that decorated the newly renovated hotel, which was curated from local artists.
