Thanksgiving at MANNA with Mayor and Lisa Nutter, Jim Kenney, DA Seth Williams and other notables

Every year I cover the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and I had fully anticipated covering it again this year. First I was going to photograph the operations at MANNA, where for years they’ve prepared a delicious meal for their clients and 3 friends for the holiday.

Years gone by I always wanted to go, but I couldn’t imagine getting up so early and leaving the house. I do wake up early to work, sometimes I go to bed as the sun rises too. Anyway…

this year was the year I set out to do it. It was a lovely walk to their 23rd and Ranstead Sts,

through the Thanksgiving Day Parade preparations as parade goers were already marking their territory.

Photobooth Fun at Lifesavers Gala – People do the Funniest Things in Photobooths

Thanks again for everyone’s notes, hugs and emails in regards to the AMFSP Philly. I need to still write out my PCC blog post, but it’s been a hectic few weeks with lots of events. I will do it though, as I have so many people to thank. I do have some of the SayCheese Photobooth pixs. For some reason people get all crazy when they’re in photo booths, I love those “private moments.”

Thank you AMFSP Board member Craig Robinson, co-chair Lynsie Solomon and founder of the Lifesaver Gala Catherine Siciliano

Pixs: A new Art Gallery in Old City – Stanek Gallery Opens at 242 N 3rd Street

Last week I attended the opening of a new art gallery in Old City called Stanek Gallery at 242 N 3rd Street

Formerly the offices for hy lo – experiential marketing agency the corner property has been turned into a beautiful space for art work

Artist Deborah Fine and Katherine Stanek met last year at a show at the Rosenfeld Gallery before it closed. and meshed as friends and artists. Katharine’s discipline is
concrete sculpture and Deborah’s is pastels. It’s perfect as each piece
of art complements the other and fills a gallery perfectly.

The artists tell me they through out the year they will be featuring work by various artists as well as their own works
Eric Stanek, Deborah Fine, Michelle Frederick and
Howie Krakow and Eric Stanek

Many of the guests were old friends, colleagues and other local art gallery owners

 Michelle Frederick and Eo Omwake

The
space is modern and multifaceted, offering  not only an opportunity for
both emerging and established artists to maximize exposure of high
caliber work, but also provides an intimate experience for visitors to
exclusively preview a working artist’s studio, all while enjoying a
featured exhibition on the same premises. (Stanek Gallery Website)

Ruth and Rick Snyderman just celebrated 50 years in business with their gallery Snyderman’s, just around the corner.

  Kathleen Horan and Quinn Stone

  Gary Weisman sculpture
Moe Brooker’s art work

Besides Katherine and Deborah‘s work, other work features Moe Brooker, Stuart Feldman, Bruce Samelson and Gary Weisman

Allison Rigby, Giovanni Romeo and Mercedes Grubb

Check out the gallery for yourself Thursday to Sunday, and stop by on First Friday December 4

Who is Sheila Hess besides Jim Kenney’s new City Rep – Plus other Appointments Yesterday

I’ve always enjoyed a good friendship with the City Rep for as long as I have been doing PhillyChitChat.com. The City Rep is an important tie in to my mission, which is promoting Philadelphia. A few years back I held a incubator where I invited new PR peeps, press and the City Rep Desiree Peterkin-Bell for a meet and greet. Many a great relationship, and collaborative projects stemmed from this meeting. I’m excited because yesterday in Sheila’s acceptance speech she talk about collaborative projects. I’m also excited cause I know Sheila’s soul, she’s a good apple.

I guess I met her about 5 or 6 years ago. She’s very outgoing and I would see her at many charity events through out the City, representing Independence Blue Cross where she was the Director of Independence Blue Cross Foundation, as well as serving on many charity boards.

Kenney said it best when he addressed his appointees: the shovels have broken ground, the
cranes are in the air, let’s continue with the momentum and make it even
better.

I don’t know where she got the energy. She’s like an energizer bunny. (2nd from left)
To say I was excited for her appointment would be an understatement
Rob Dubow as chief financial officer thanks Kenney for allowing him to keep the current job he’s in

Current budget director Rebecca Rhynhart has been appointed to a new post in charge of overseeing procurement, information technology, and human resources. She’s excited to make sure the City is using the latest technology to do business, in a cost saving manner.
Not only has Sheila served on many charitable boards over the years, but she’s also volunteered on Jim Kenney’s campaigns for the past 20 years. It’s been a life long dream to serve the City in some sort of capacity to shine a light on all it’s good deeds.
The Mayor’s Reception Hall was full of well wishers yesterday.

Harold T. Epps, vice chairman of the regional company PRWT Services
the newly appointed Commerce Director.
Gordon K. Roberson and Kathryn Epps Roberson with mom
Kathy W. Epps, Urban League of Philadelphia and dad

Harold T. Epps, vice chairman of the regional company PRWT Services

the newly appointed Commerce Director.

Sheila Hess and her IBX team including President of the Indep Foundation Rev Lorina Marshall Blake. They’re wearing red as it’s Sheila’s favorite color.
Sheila, husband Mike, with her mom and brother. Sheila wants to shine a light on Philadelphia so bright, we’ll all need sunglasses.

Who is Sheila Hess, she’s everyone’s friend, and she’s a Philly girl, born and bred. She’s a cheerleader for life, and for all the people. She’ll make a difference. This is a shot of us at the Lifesavers Gala last week. She and Mike came. She’s my friend and I am so excited to see her dreams come true.

Rihanna Hung out at the Fillmore Saturday Night, Ryan Phillipe Watched Philly Marathon Sunday, Keke Palmer & Primark Party

Good Monday afternoon, what a whirlwind weekend. Hope you caught this amazing sunset yesterday.

This is from my mom in law’s balcony. We have a fabulous view of the City from our balcony but mom has this fabulous view and every once in a while I remember to run to her place. I’m running way way behind in laying down columns, but this is a bit of celebrity breaking news. A couple of notable celebrities hung out in Philly this weekend…

Rihanna was spotted in the balcony at The Fillmore Philly on Saturday night watching her non-confirmed beau Travi$ Scott perform on the main stage.

She was cool and posed with a fan, despite the if looks could kill from her BFF Melissa behind her

A photographer caught her as she exited the club where she was looking oh so stylish in her vintage Kiss Tshirt, mile high blue velvet boots and a coat she was wearing way before Adele borrowed the look for “Hello”.

Look for Rihanna to return to Philly with Travi$ Scott @ Wells Fargo Center 4/3
Ryan Phillippe flew into town Saturday night and posted what he found on the luggage converyor belt Welcome Home to Philly.
No official word why the native Wilmington De actor is home, but maybe it’s for the holidays or perhaps to cheer on a family member running in the Philadelphia Marathon cause that’s where he was at Sunday morning. Not sure if he caught the Eagles game, but if you check out his twitter he did retweet something about the Eagles. íղ ʍվ ԹհíӀՀ
90210’s Vincent Young took in the Eagles game with local businessman Ian Larson.

UFC fighter Dana White has been traveling the country filming a show called #lookinforafight, last week he was in Alaska, then walked the boards in AC, this past weekend he stopped by Geno’s Steak to cook up a few steaks.

What do these Casper the ghost avatars mean? Tell me on Twitter or FB cause I don’t accept comments anymore. Thanks
Primark held a launch party at The Skybox, in the Fishtown, which boasts 7,500 sq ft of event space making it a great venue to kick off a never forget party attracting lots of stylish scenesters.
Keke Palmer was on hand to perform and pose with fans
They had models on elevated runways as well
as clothes just hanging around
Icona Pop performed jumping into the audience and
allowing them to sing along to their popular pop song “I Love It”

Scenester, fashion blogger Ian M Crumm was of course in the audience
as was Fox 29’s Alex Holley

Major retail group operating stores in the UK and Ireland and now has a Primark in the KOP Mall.

Ever since I was a little boy, reading the Society Pages, I don’t know how that happened, I guess I was drawn to people, parties and photos, I wanted to be in the “Society” column. Finally at the ripe age of a half century plus a couple years if you read that article about me last year, I’ve made it. Next time I’d like to be in the society column smiling and not thinking OMG all these years I’m finally going to be in the society column deer in headlights look. As I stated in the beginning I am so far behind in placing columns and catching up on gossip. I haven’t even written my own column here on PCC about the gala last week. I’ll get to it soon.
