ABOUT US
JerseyMan Magazine is a regional magazine with well-written
and researched content targeting male heads of households in the New
Jersey area. The content includes the type of articles you might expect
(sports, politics, wine, fine dining, and entertainment) and they’re
always on the lookout for content you can get nowhere else. Feature
articles have covered Angelo Cataldi of Sportsradio 610WIP; George
Anastasia of the Philadelphia Inquirer; Philadelphia Eagles
play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese; and topics such as competitive
eating, medical malpractice, and black bear hunting in New Jersey. JerseyMan Magazine,
with a circulation of 23,000, is distributed to households in Camden,
Burlington, Gloucester, Atlantic and Mercer counties (New Jersey).
Since its inception, JerseyMan Magazine has causing a buzz among area men who are hungry for information on issues and topics dealing with their lives and concerns. JerseyMan
strives to fill a niche by providing male-oriented stories and articles
but our intent is certainly not to alienate women. If you peruse our
content, there are stories on a female cigar aficionado as well as a
woman who hunts bears. Jersey Girls are welcome at JerseyMan, as long as they are doing some- thing guys would find interesting — or are simply curious about what guys find interesting.

Weddings, Celebs in Philly, OMG THat #ASLICEBUCKETCHALLENGE and Babies- NewsInPhotos

Good Monday morning. Let’s see which celebrities were in Philly this past week, and what our neighbors were up to…

5 Seconds of Summer stopped by CHOP on Thursday after ducking out the side door of the Four Season’s hotel, as some fans cried that they missed their chance to see the boys. This should make up for it.
Ian Bush is an anchor, reporter, news editor, and technology editor at KYW Newsradio snagged a great shot of Harry Styles of One Direction. It’s amazing to see their star rise from contestants on the UK X Factor to this. They’re basically a manufactured group like N’Snyc, put together by Simon Cowell on the show.
Marisa Maganatta, WMMR’s Preston & Steve producer is back from her Greek Island vacation and greeting new friends at the station- Mini me Verne Troyer
Drew Becher is at the Singapore Garden Festival for inspiration for the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show.
Congrats to Katie Griffin who is featured in the September issue of Philly Style Magazine.

Half these women are over 40 and look vavavoom.

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington checks into the Four Season’s hotel early Thursday morning. He’s posing with uber One Direction fan Luz.  Luke Butler also stayed at the Four Seasons, as well as Yanni.

Congrats to the DeNicola’s on their anniversary.

@CosmoDeNicola Chairman | Tech Entrepreneur | Co-owner of the Philadelphia Soul | Talent Management firm in NYC and LA http://instagram.com/cdenicola

Yes, and PCC wishes Bill a speedy recovery.
 Happy Anniversary Gloria and Trisha

I took this photo. So fun to see Dom Streater’s studio and fall collection.

Patti LaBelle was at Stratus on Thursday night for the DNC Selection Committee party
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Steve Tortu, Sr. He had a serious migraine, and finally after 4 days went to the ER. It was really a brain aneurysm. They caught it in time.
No summer can’t be over, I haven’t been to the beach yet!!

 Happy birthday Shirleen Allicot.

You learn so much on FB

Hmm (cheating) at least he donated money to the ASL too.

 Happy Birthday Alexander
Seriously go here over Labor Day or in the fall. So beautiful.
The Best ASL Ice Bucket Challenge Yet

  Lady Gaga doing the #ASLICEBUCKETCHALLENGE
Dana Spain doing the  #ASLICEBUCKETCHALLENGE
One of the many bridesmaids duties

Meg Foster has seen better days, here with Team Derek at a local event.

Oh that Kaci told me a whopper after I asked her last week if she was studying the maps in Kansas City. She made up this elaborate story about how she’d be staying in Philly and work out because when the Eagles played home, Aaron’s team was away, and visa versa. Hmm maybe it was a last minute decision.
I don’t think that’s Flavor Flav outside of Parc
 gorgeous
Congrats!! My old trainer and my old neighbor.

I always forget how beautiful it is from the South Street Bridge. Go there and take some photos, there is a sidewalk. Look how great the Schuylkill Park boardwalk looks.

Wedding of the Summer: Brian Lamsback and Angela Skalicky at the Bellevue

I was excited to be asked to cover the Brian Lamsback and Angela Skalicky wedding taking place at the Hyatt at The Bellevue in Center City on July 26, 2014. I’ve known the Lamsback for several years, and have been aware of the events they produce although I never really have seen the end results of a large scale event as they do a lot of weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvah‘s, anniversary parties and other celebratory events, but not as many gala’s that I attend.

Lamsback Floral Decorators- is operated by Bob Lamsback, Karen Lamsback and Tina
Lamsback.
“We design the entire event-the fashion and coordination end
of the event- staging, lighting, coordination and production of the
event. We specialize in floral design, linens, glassware, charger
plates, lighting, staging, dance floor, draping etc. we also provide
event coordination and help guide each client throughout the wedding
process.”

Ceremony- Rose Garden Room at the Bellevue
It was great to see all the different styles at one Wedding.
Bob Lamsback, Karen Lamsback escorting son Brian Lamsback down the aisle.
(I wish you could smell the fragrancy of this room, just amazing.)
 Brian Lamsback greets his groomsman
Angela Skalicky’s parents walk her down the aisle
 Tina Lamsbeck
Angela Skalicky and  Brian Lamsback
How gorgeous are they love shaped fixtures, a Cinderella wedding.
 Angela Lamsback and Brian Lamsback
The reception
Friends came from all over to enjoy the day.
Guests, with Tina Lamsback and Joel Durinka at the reception.
The reception was an understated, but eloquent affair where they served an array of Hors d’oeuvrs
 Paul Pereira and Anne Nikolaus

 Three generations of Skalicky’s

“It was truly a wonderful experience to create my son and daughter in
law’s big day-it was the best and biggest present I could have given
them-my whole heart.” -Bob Lamsback
The Reception at the Bellevue Ballroom was breath taking.
I’ve photographed many events in this room, and I have never seen it look more spectacular than I did for the Lamsback wedding.
 Brian’s groom’s cake! It
was perfect for a previous announcer of the Villanova basketball games
and always a Villanova basketball fan!! It was created by  Darren Dipietro at The Cake Studio in Ocean City, NJ
Place setting – the roses are stunning.

note the candles lining the center pieces
Tina Lambsbeck: The Hyatt at the Bellevue was beyond amazing
to have such a momentous occasion. Lisa made both families feel like we
were her family and she handled our event as if
it was her very own! Every station, meal and specialty drink was
handled with care and were absolutely delicious down to the last
bite/sip. Her creativity was off the charts! Everyone is still raving
over the lemon drop martinis and wonton dumplings-the best in the city!
Thanks, Lisa, David, Ritchie and the entire Bellevue staff! Cheers to a
fabulous event
guests look for their table placement cards
The cake was created by Potito’s Bakery’s (They did my birthday cake last year too.)
Now I understand what the Lamsback Floral Decorators do when they produce an event.

  • Lamsback Floral Decorators-
  • Floral Design
  • Room Environment
  • Lighting, Draping, Staging and Chairs
  • Custom Table Linen
  • Event Coordination
  • Calligraphy- Place Cards and Menu Cards
  • Wedding Favors and Bar and Bat Mitzvah Gift Bags
  • Games and Activities
EBE’s band Dreamtime had the floor packed all night.
I have photographed many events, and have been to many weddings, the Lamsback wedding was eloquent, classy, no details were over looked. I love how they put the bar in the ballroom, something I’ve never seen before and it worked well. My favorite decor was the hanging chandeliers from the balcony, again nothing I have ever seen before. Just a magnificently produced wedding.

ONE DIRECTION AND FIVE SECONDS OF SUMMER – Where were they, what’d they do.

One Direction and Five Seconds of Summer performed two sold out shows at Lincoln Financial Field this week. I went, it was great fun to meet the fans and see the show but next time I must wear ear plugs; louder than you could ever imagine. Here are a few photos of what transpired this week.

While in town 5 SOS ate a lot of cheese steaks. On the first day they hit up both Geno’s and Pat’s.
After performing at Q102 and their meet and greet,
A member of 5SOS waves to the fans below in the Q102 Parking lot.
they headed to Steve’s at 16th and Chestnut.
An interesting back story here is a few fans tried to follow the band from Q102 to see where they would go. The driver caught on and tried to loose them by going on the BF Bridge to NJ. When he got to the other side, 5SOS made a u turn and went right back over, going through EZPass, the fans they had to pay cash and they lost them.

Then while they were eating their steaks, my friend Mollie Dronson, who was going from the Four Season’s to Palomar trying to find 1 Direction, stumbled up the band eating at Steve’s and got the above photos.

The fans in all the other cities the “Where We Are” tour were as fanatical as they were in Philly. That’s why I knew it would be great to follow this story for two days.
5 SOS takes the stage. They were discovered by Louis from One Direction, who tweeted that his followers should follow them. Then 1D took a financial interest in the under 20 boy band and now 5SOS is gaining popularity as well. They’re from Australia, and are known for not wearing matching socks.

Harry Greets the Fans

One Direction Sings Happy Birthday to a fan
Did you hear about the brides. Folks would dress up for their wedding day and then One Direction would call them out and ask them to marry them. Then you would have bragging rights, more than Taylor Swift too: Harry asked me to marry him. See below for my Fox 29 segment about it.

Michelle G met Harry in DC at their hotel. This couldn’t happen in Philly cause 1D stayed on their tour buses inside the fence at Lincoln Financial Field. Kinda sucked our people didn’t have a chance to meet them.
One Direction sings Prince of Belaire in a nod to Will Smith, then sings “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful”
Parents waiting outside for their kids.

The Cake Boss family with One Direction. One Direction also granted 6 meet & greet wishes through the “Make A Wish Foundation”. On Thursday the boys had their first taste of Tastykake’s, Harry Styles and Niall Horan loved them and took a box back to their dressing room. Harry Styles also loved the Cannoli’s from Termini’s. When he saw them he said “Oh what are they called?”
Remember this fan who made big news with the above photo. His name is David,

and that’s him waving at me outside the Four Seasons.
5SOS arrived back at the hotel about 10PM. The fans still holding out hope thought One Direction would be coming back from the concert too. The barricades were put up and everyone got behind them.
The car door opened, screams ensued, and it was Yanni, who’s been in the area rehearsing his upcoming shows nearby. Other people who came through the door over the passed few days Luke Butler, and Linken Park.
 a few fans
The fans lined up on Thursday to see 5SOS as they headed out to their concert.  Sad for them, the band left through the garage.
5 SOS headed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and held a meet and greet with a few patients.

Harry Styles, One Direction, with his new Eagles Jersey. Not sure if he wore it on stage. With One Direction the only wire service allowed to shoot the band was Getty Images. Then the band would review the photos and allow them to release only the approved ones. This happens to me a lot, I’ve photographed for Beyonce twice and next week I’m shooting a country singer and he gets to approve my photos.

I love this advice, so funny.

5SOS used the public door twice, and used the Four Season’s garage twice

Niall Horan escaped to NJ on Thursday to play a round of golf at Trump in Pine Hill

This week I noticed on Twitter a few celeb hotel names pop up. For the most part it’s an aggregate site of fans sightings, which is good. The bad news, they got the hotels wrong. The above pix is The Four Seasons and

The boys didn’t stay at the Omni. I drove by on Wednesday night and a lot of girls were sleeping on the sidewalk.

Mom’s were doing their best to get a sighting for their little girls.
But it was a great memory making day too. 25 years in the future “Mom remember when we spent two days in August looking for One Direction and 5SOS”
Uber fan Melissa Leonard has met many of her favorite idols. Her mom is persistent, and intuitive to figure out the best ways to find a solution in her business as well as make her daughter’s dreams come true. They found member of 5 SOS eating dinner in the Fountain Room at the Four Seasons, and that is how Madison got a photo of her and Michael from 5SOS

The Four Seasons was sold out as a lot of fans bought up the rooms months in advance so they would be able to wander the halls looking for their idols.

Some fans are better sleuths than others, as well as lucky. I was still getting hit up on Friday for the boys hotel. All anyone had to do was a little research to see where the majority of the fans were waiting. Unfortunately for the few who follow the celebrity hotel twitters, they waited at the wrong hotel and didn’t see anyone. The boys left the city right after their concert at the stadium and headed to NYC and stayed at a hotel. Are the Philly Fans so scary they couldn’t do that here?

In the meantime, head over to Philly Mag and read my column on Day 1 of the Boy Band Invasion
http://www.phillymag.com/ticket/2014/08/14/photos-squealing-tweens-take-city-see-one-direction-5-seconds-summer/

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/clip/10476994/hughe-dillon-talks-one-direction-concerts

Here’s my segment on Fox 29 yesterday chatting about the boys of summer.
#1D told Philly UR best fans, but stayed on tour bus inside the Linc. They didn’t do that anywhere else Does Philly have a bad reputation with fans? BTW Thursday night they stayed in a hotel in NYC, Friday Harry Styles went to Soul Cycle in the morning to work out.

BEST OF PHILLY MAGAZINE PARTY PIXS PLUS LINK TO MY COLUMN

This year’s Philly Mag “Best of Party” was off the hook, and I’m not just saying that because I have the social column in the magazine, I’m saying it because it’s true.
Ever since they began offering tickets to the general public, beginning last year, they’ve really pulled out all the stops in throwing a great party. There was so much to do, see and eat at this years party, which was held at Citizen Bank Park. Very creative to have it in the cooridoor. Even though it rained and felt like fall, it was a great venue. Directing the guests to parking and the front door are Philly Mag interns extrodiners Holly Sargent and Lize Keefer

Sean Gavin and Maeve Gavin. Maeve works in the marketing department and can be thanked for putting on a great production. I had a record 30 photos in my column yestereday for the Best of Philly party. People always ask me why a photo went in, or why not. There’s lots of reasons, sometimes I take so many photos I miss the shot when I review at the end of the night, that would be what happened to Katie and Ashli below. I’ll probably submit them for the print magazine cause it’s a great shot, they’re smiling, and they’re adorable.
Ashli Mizell, Ashli Mizell Design and Katie Cavuto, chef/owner of Healthy Bites
Daniel Fine, Kris Flynn and Mike Lautman
Sometimes I have better shots of the person, and I run that one.
Jared Kerr, Dena Giusini, and Carol Skaziak won for best pampering of pets at the  Philadelphia Pet Hotel & Villas. Sometimes I have similar shots of others and I just have to make a decision on which to run. I love this shot, but I had a similar one and I do have a posed shot of the threesome that I might run in the print issue.
Brad Maule proudly shows off the amazing Philly Mag article girlfriend Liz Spikol (Properties at PhillyMag.com) wrote about her childhood in Philadelphia, and the iconic locations and experiences she misses.
More fun peeps and Philebrities in my Philly Mag column.
The best way to get in any of my columns is to not shame me in not remembering your name, I have a bad memory. For the lady who did it the other night, she’s banned for life. I’ll never shoot her again, unles someone I work for explicitly says to.

Edward Jay, Liz Welsh, George Shotz and Rebecca T cost you guys a chance to be in PhillyMag cause well we just can’t do a “T”.
Sorry I don’t like the word corn hole, I will always refer this to the term bean bag toss.
For the most part everyone is awesome; it’s difficult for me to exclude people from my outlets. That’s probably one of the reasons I have so many, I want you to be in my columns, I appreciate that you want to be. Thanks!!
Snow Cones – Sherrie Sudler and Eric Morgan (When you appear on PCC, you are still eligible to be in the magazine, especially since I have your contact info.) I should have had them lower the snocones a little. It drove me crazy they were so high.
There was Plenty of good food at the party. Get it, Plenty, Plenty is the name of the restaurant, hmm you probably can’t see that on his shirt. Nevermind.
 The Zarwin Baum Crew.
They’re all in a Philly Mag column that runs sometime this week.

Jean Michel Gatsby, Larry Giuffa, Replica and Sarah Laffen
I just had Larry in the print magazine not too long ago.
Claudia Gavin and Kirk Huffangle (I shot them cause they are fashionable adorable, they didn’t run not because she works there, which I discovered after shooting her but because I couldn’t read my own handwriting for his name.
Alyse and Noah Markel. Loved her outfit, did run them cause she works at PM, but I think she was the best dressed of the evening.
Marc Oppenheimer, Parx Casino, Andrew Greenblatt, PFS and his brother Marc Greenblatt
Shake Shack is always so good to me. They always say hi HughE, and they make me a double scoop. That’s love.
Leigh Rubin and Scott L Shuster watch the fireworks. I like this photo a lot, but I didn’t have the couples name on the left so I didn’t run it.

More fun peeps and Philebrities in my Philly Mag column.

#WoofWoofWednesday and Storm Shots from Last Night

OMG so busy this week forgot to grab lots of pets for Woof Woof Wednesday. I just discovered people seem to only post their pets on the weekends. So I’m going to throw in a few storm pixs from last night. I just finished a column for Philly Mag about their fabulous Best of Party last night. Now I’m running out to shoot 5SOS at Q102, then will be at the One Direction hotel with the fans. I love doing that. Then I’m going to the concert, someone was so nice to give me a ticket to hang in their box. Check out Philly Mag later for the pixs from the party. I could only publish 25 of the 200 I took. Tomorrow I will put more on PCC. Thanks HughE

ENGAGEMENTS, WEDDINGS, CELEBRITIES IN TOWN THIS WEEKEND

Have you been to the Independence Beer Garden yet, it’s at 5th and Market and it’s the happening spot of the summer. Sure PHS Beer Garden Pop-up was the first one, and the Spruce Street Park is great for romance, but you want to hang with your friends, and meet people, I would recommend the @PHLBeerGarden Kudos to Nina Tinari for securing a twitter name no one else thought to grab.

Last week they held the press conference to prep the City in pitching to obtain the 2016 Democratic National Convention. I’m so stoked about that.

KATY PERRY WEEK WRAP, How did I get those photos, WHAT SHE DID, WHERE SHE WAS & HER HOTEL

After a long winter, spring drought of celebrities, Katy Perry blew it out of the water for me.

I was on Fox 29 on Monday chatting Miley Cyrus who didn’t stay in Philly,

but her whole team did, dancers, assistant, stylist and band stayed at Hotel Monaco.

She drove down from NYC and after the concert drove back except to take a pee on the NJ Turnpike.

Wednesday I was on Fox with the Katy Perry concert stories, and that infamous pizza outfit at the Rocky Steps. Both nights Katy announced that she’d be going somewhere. One of the places, the fame Art Museum Rocky Steps. She was dropped off at the top, I hope she got a photo, then was greeted by fans at the bottom. She was amazing how she really took her time posing for photos. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

I took the following shots from raising my arm over the open limo door and shooting it “Hail Mary”, meaning I had to guestimate how they would fit in the frame. I have several shots of the top of their heads, but by the grace of God I got the ones I needed.
The ones of her in the mob weren’t good as you couldn’t see the pizza onesie.

Even though these photos are all over the internet, they will still be picked up by the magazines and will run week of August 18. (That’s the door on the left)

I wouldn’t have been able to do all this without a team of like minded people, fans and other photographers that I call my friends. I usually only see them during this celeb jaunts, and it’s always nice spending time with them, even the 5 hours we waited at the hotel she wasn’t at as we got bad info. But we had already spent 2 hours at another hotel the night before, until a doorman came on duty at midnight, recognized me from Fox 29 and told me she wasn’t at that hotel.

She arrived on Monday via private plane with close
friends, and her dog, she drove directly to the venue arriving at 4PM. She stayed at the Rittenhouse Hotel. On Tuesday she walked the dog in Rittenhouse
Square, then went for a bike ride around the City, and had a bite to eat
at Hip City Veg, I hear.

Before we found her at the Rittenhouse Hotel rumors were rampent at other hotels saying she was staying there. We spent 5 hrs at one hotel, then 1 hour at another. The vigils ended at both places when doorman recognized me, and said she wasn’t staying there. I should have done less hiding across the street at the first hotel and could have called it a day earlier. (The car door and body of car can be seen here.)
The only negative tidbit: When Katy arrived at the Mutter Museum, at the 5PM closing time on Wednesday, she didn’t stop to take a photo with the lone 10 year girl there (with her parent), and the little girl burst out in tears. It got worse when her bodyguard wouldn’t take the artwork she created. Katy was clever,
while we all waited at the back door near her arriving SUV, another one picked her up at the front door.

This was her sweet ride from Secret’s Limo.
(They’re friends and former advertisers for about 3 years. PS they never shared info w/me)

But that being said, look what she did for the hundreds of fans that were at the Art Museum on Tuesday night. Just Amazing.

Thanks to Molly Eichel of Philly Daily News for running a photo of Katy Perry’s dad, Keith Hudson in her column on Wednesday. And for linking to my blog and Katy Perry coverage. Also thanks for the links Crossing Broad and CBS 3.

It’s always great to meet so many of my readers.
