Good Monday Morning. Hope you had a great weekend. I’m working on my PhillyMag column regarding a fun party I went to on Friday night at Stratus Lounge. Besides being a fabulous party, I noticed that Stratus Lounge has tented over the entire rooftop lounge & it’s heated. This is a game changer and will definitely help the winter doldrums for a bar that celebrates the great outdoors.
David’s Bridal sent me a press release matching gowns they have with some of the gowns worn on the red carpet at the Golden Globes last night. Last night’s Golden Globes produced some
show-stopping fashion moments. Below are some of the head turning red
carpet lookalikes that are both on-point and on-trend for your award
show fashion coverage. (you can click on the photos to make them larger.)
Whether you’re looking
for a classic black gown like Amal Clooney’s red carpet stunner,
craving
to achieve the shimmering style of stars like Reese Witherspoon
or
trying to emulate the red carpet aisle style of Salma Hayek’s ivory ball
gown,
Just like the Red Carpet season has begun nationally, the same goes for the Philadelphia area as well. The Hair of the Dog is next week, then it’s the Academy Ball, The Auto Show’s Black Tie Tailgate and before you know it the Philadelphia Flower Show gala. Another favorite place to shop, is holding their most fabulous sale of the year, Nicole Miller Philadelphia.
This Would Have Been Great TV if filmed for the Real Housewives of New York:
You might have read in Molly Eichel’s column and AD Amorosi’s column about the reality show star who came to town and wreaked havoc. What happened was Avida Drescher and family wanted to come to Philly to experience July 4th in our fair City. She had her publicist call ahead of time to see what they could see, where they should go, eat etc.
Their publicist Matt Dillon did exactly what a publicist is supposed to do, create a great experience for the least about of headaches; except he over committed and disappointed a few PR people by canceling at the last minute for at least three visits to prearranged places. And this was July 4th weekend so many of the people they were to meet had been on vacation and changed their plans.
Reid Drescher and Aviva Drescher are seen leaving Treemont restaurant in Philadelphia, PA
I knew they were coming to town as a PR person tipped me off and I rearranged my weekend to get a shot of them at a high end spa on Sunday. Why did I do it, I love what I do, I love journaling it and I love sharing it. It’s what I do, but I was sad they weren’t going to the spa or making cheesesteaks with an owner.
I do understand they have kids and kids are driving the bus. After a day at Sesame Place on Saturday, the kids were pretty wiped out, and two events the Drescher’s canceled were booked for Sunday. They also canceled one on Thursday.
Sunday I got a call from The Dreschers to meet them
at the Monaco Hotel, where they stayed for the weekend. (I asked them to pose outside.)
I met Reid, Aviva, and children Hudson, and Sienna in the lobby where they were
playing with the items in the Kidz Corner. Friday they went to the historic sites, and then had dinner at
Pizzaria Stella near South Street (They told me the area reminded them of
Brooklyn.) Afterwards they went to the Franklin Fountain in Old City. Saturday
they went to Sesame Place. That evening Aviva made an appearance an appearance at
ICandy to the delight of her gay fans who posted lots of pixs on Instagram (that appearance happened when Matt ran into someone at Treemont who took him on a tour of Philly Gay Bars and he was able to book an appearance there. Pretty darn lucrative.) Sunday it was breakfast at Red Owl
Tavern at Hotel Monaco. Aviva told me she enjoyed doing the Real Housewives
series, even with all its drama because it’s allowed her a greater reach in
helping others through her philanthropic work as the
National Spokesperson for One Step Ahead and other organizations helping
amputees.

Ed Sheeran performs a private concert at Q102
Ginger’s rule
This fan came all the way from Texas to meet Ed Sheeran. She won a radio contest call in at Q102, as did everyone in the audience. Ed just took a selfie and a selfie with the audience with her phone. Later he and Q102 retweeted it.
Fans who didn’t win the radio contest, but waited outside for a chance to meet Ed Sheeran. Usually when the crowd is this large a celeb will go out a side door, and he did.
Rocco from Q102. Did you know he co-owns the healthy Fuel eateries around town?
Ed Sheeran fans who got an autographed photo, and a photo with Ed, which can be found on the Q102 website.
I shot Nicki Minaj leaving the Ritz-Hotel. She was make-up free, friendly and sexy
The shots appeared in PhillyMag, Molly Eichel’s Philly Gossip, The UK Daily Mail and several other outlets.
Ran all the way from the Ritz to the Four Season and nearly beat Nicki Minaj who drove.

Every
year I see this family set up their tent in front of my apartment building.
This year
they went all out and brought serious seating to watch the concert on the TV,
then peek out from the tent to watch the fireworks which are shot off across
the street.

Photos from the opening day and ribbon cutting of the long in planning, short in construction, amazing game changer of a skate board park in Philly. Great to see the dreams and persistence of a lot of people come true.
I love shooting skateboarders, I’m in awe of their fearlessness and talent.
I shot the above photo in 1998 on my way to work about 9AM on a Wednesday.

Great trick and socks
When I skateboarded as a kid, they didn’t have these amazing boards. I cracked my board so much, I decorated it with duct tape.
This park is an going to do more to beat childhood obesity than anything that could be legislated
It’s also the great equalizer, young, old, straight, gay, black, white I saw using it. The courtesy that goes on is amazing. It’s great to see how everyone waits their turn, and how it’s decided who skates next. It’s great study on humans, and since my major in college was Sociology, I really enjoy watching that process. Not sure how the skaters, bikers, and scooters are going to fare in the coming days, but I think there’s enough space for them all to get along.
Emmy award winning cameraman Brad Berner, NBC10 catches the action
Steve Olitsky, Shanna Olitsky, Tamar Olitsky, The Olitsky Foundation, who helped fund the skate board park, along with Steve Rockman, who is also a Board member with the Olitsky’s.

I think they express their style through their boards, they’re all so colorful. They are not afraid of pink either.
I wonder what the KOP mall would think of his shirt?
The Mayor greeted as many skaters as he could
great character building & encouragement going on here. He’s got blades on.
Jumping for joy. You gotta just keep the faith that no one is going to get hurt.

Nadirah DeLuca invites her son up to help her accept her award. She was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes a few years ago, normally a shy women who does wonderful acts of kindness behind the scenes, her sons encouraged her to be more public and outspoken in matters, to find a cure, to make a difference. It was really a moving speech. A portion of the proceeds of the event went to benefit the Foundation for Type I Diabetes.

The Waterview Lounge Presented “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” Hosted by Jennifer Williams of Vh1’s Basketball Wives so after I left the Philadelphia Magazine Design Home party I headed back into town for this very chic event. The Waterview’s Markeem Kendall, Owner and the PR for the event was Carmena Ayo-Davies, 3BG Marketing Solutions
Jennifer Williams is the wife of former NBA Boston Celtics star Eric Williams. She said the program purposely edited the show to create a lot of drama. “I wish they didn’t focus so much on my [denigrating] marriage” she said. In June she filed for a divorce; because heck girl your dirty laundry has been aired and it would be dumb for you to stay in that marriage. She told the audience gathered at the dinner party, that she’s turned her eye towards charity, not just one, but many different charities in hopes to make a difference in others lives.Everyone seemed dressed to the nines and these two were fashion perfect: Learia West and Zairaih Strickland. Most ladies were wearing PNK Elephant jewelery including Rasheeda Hampton, Quianna Harris, and Ayana Gibbs, all three are with 3B Marketing Solutions. Jennifer Williams with her beautiful Christian Louboutin shoes These girls are Football girlfriends, but with no drama so don’t come looking to make a reality show here, except if it’s on fashion and football. Jeniva Barrett, (Asante Samuel’s fiance), Regina Huff, (wife of Leon Huff) Kijafa Frink (Michael Vick’s Fiance) and Arthur Kade. AK did some great interviews that you’ll have to check out http://arthurkade.com/ That dude is showing up at more and more places and landing a lot of interesting interviews. Alloyius McIlwaine, Cultures Clothing Co. (Ceo-Founder / Artist / Designer)and Christina Sanchez from Queen Diva Radio Hello my old friend color. Just because it’s the end of summer these ladies realize that color can be worn right into the next season. Kia Wongus, Ashley Patterson, and Tania Toomer, with her Steve Madden shoes and what kind of bag is that I asked, and she looked at me like I had two heads and said, but I forget what she said. Oy. I’m gonna have learn these names since I appreciate their beauty so much. Hosting thw Q&A part of the evening are Kharisma McIlwaine, CBS3/CW and Elizabeth Wellington, Phila Inquirer Fashion Writer Jennifer Williams of Vh1’s Basketball Wives. Part of the proceeds will go to the Stop the Madness Foundation, providing South Philadelphia’s youth a way to express their talents through sports and academics. Check out my column at Philly Mag about my coverage of the Design Home Party. Also watch me tomorrow morning on Fox 29 after 9:30PM to catch my coverage of the Phila Eagles Opening Party at G Lounge, with lots of lovely ladies and my coverage of the Nicole Miller’s XIX Stylish Women. Maybe next year you might be on the list since they have asked me before who I thought was most stylish.
Beating back the title of least attractive people in the US that readers of a Travel & Leisure magazine bestowed on our City, NSquared Productions and the Park Hyatt rolled out the red carpet for Gorgeous, a spectacular showcase of art and fashion paired with a high-energy dance party. There were beautiful people on the runway, in the audience and working the crowd Friday night in the beautiful city of Philly. Acting as host for the evening’s festivities was the fabulous Jay McCarroll, winner of Project Runway’s first season and Bump’s Fabulous Cyoni The Gorgeous runway show will featured fresh fashion, hair and makeup from the hottest local boutiques, designers, salons and makeup artists, including Eleganza presenting Versace and Roberto Cavalli, Dennis Basso, Nicole Miller, Joan Shepp, Matthew Izzo, Ettore, Pierre & Carlo, and many others. One of my favorite places to hang out was the hallway leading to the runway, it was here the models would wait for their cue to sashy down the runway
sometimes there were obstacles on the way to the runway as waiters used this hallway tooThe runway, Jay Carrolls back, the man in the red would time the girls and then send them down the runway
eye candy
another favorite spot was the dressing room; I was very careful not to shoot the boobs and bods of unsuspecting models
sometimes I screwed up There was entertainment, like this Latino dance troupe Noel Zayas of NSquared Productionsthe male lineup struts their stuffI guess the underwear showing is still inFierce soft and sensual matching
