Philly Gossip: 50 Cents Redux, She Said Yes, Death House Wraps, Erin Elmore and Omarosa extend their 15 minutes

Good Thursday Morning, running crazy today, trying to catch up. Hope you’re well. It’s Friday eve, what’s not to love, even though it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, but it’s going to be 80 so there’s that, tomorrow. Here goes with a short Philly Gossip entry

PhillyGossip: She Said Yes, 50 Cents Redux, Death House Wraps, Apprentice alumni Erin Elmore and Omarosa Manigault extend their 15 minutes of fame touting Trump for President.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today announced that award-winning rapper, entrepreneur, actor and producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will sign pre-purchased bottles of EFFEN® Vodka from Noon to 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, at the Fine Wine & Good Spirits Premium Collection Store, 180 W. Girard Ave, Philadelphia

If this sounds like a Groundhog Day moment, it is. Fifty was just here less than a year ago last July, at the same liquor store. I guess he needs a few more fifties to get him out of bankruptcy. I won’t be able to make it this time either cause I have the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Walk at the Art Museum, then I’m headed to PIFA Street Fair on Broad Street, where I hope you’ll be headed too.

I do like the name though…

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts produced the celebrated Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) and its grand finale, the PIFA Street Fair. The culminating event of the 16-day festival transforms six blocks of Broad Street (between Chestnut and South Streets) into Philadelphia’s ultimate FREE block party featuring dozens of performances, rides, a zip line, popular food vendors, and this year’s centerpiece – an enormous waterfall in the center of Broad Street across from the Academy of Music. The 2016 PIFA Street Fair will take place on Saturday, April 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Last week I broke the story about the Art Museum having a food truck at the top of the stairs. Then I updated my blog and the link became broken. So I’m hear to tell you the story again, but briefly.

Operated by culinary partner STARR Catering Group, this food truck dishes up delicious burgers with an artistic twist

Try the classic Easy Eakins, the Italian-inspired Rocky Balburger, the Peale’s Portobello, or one of many others with a side of crispy, old-fashioned fries. The names are killing me, Easy Eakins, Rocky Balburger, Disco Fries – love.

The food truck is open the same hours as the museum, weather permitting, AND is located at the top of the Rocky Steps, to reward you with a treat for running up them.

Philly Gossip: Tiffani Thiessen and Jesse McCartney Hang in Philly, Ian Crumm Parties with Kyle Jenner

Good Wednesday, if this Philly Gossip entry looks somewhat familiar it is. I posted this originally on Monday, but then my site switch over to the new site, which your’re looking at right now. This entry started getting a lot of hits so I need to repost it. This is going to happen alot this week as I have to repost entries of interest that I want captured on my new, refreshed site.

Paul Makerie and Tiffani Thiessen
Paul Makerie and Tiffani Thiessen

Tiffani Thiessen aka Kelly Kapowski on NBC’s Saved by the Bell and as Valerie Malone on Fox’s Beverly Hills, 90210. These days Tiffani has a cooking show on the Cooking Network called appropriately “Dinner at Tiffani’s” which airs at 8PM on Sundays. She was in town making an appearance at the Sweet Paul Makerie creative retreat which was held at the Navy Yard in URBAN over the weekend.

Tiffani Thiessen and Chef Michael Solomonov
Tiffani Thiessen and Chef Michael Solomonov

In between the meets, greets and demonstrations, Tiffani spent a lot of time dining at Mike Solomonov eateries. Friday night she had dinner at Zahav, Sunday before leaving town she grabbed some grub at Dizengoff and dessert at Federal Donuts. I’d say there’s a segment at Dinner’s at Tiffani’s in Mike Solo’s career.

4-18-2016 12-14-40 AM (Custom)

Friday night my phone was blowing up for another reason too, seems Jesse McCartney was in town and his fans wanted to know. Nothing was on the radar ie Social Media which led me to piece the story together, but then Saturday night Jesse stepped out to grab dinner from Steve’s at 16th and Chestnut. He was kind enough to pose with a few fans inside one of Philly’s famed must have cheesesteak places.

4-18-2016 12-16-20 AM (Custom)

Sunday, shots of Jesse began showing up from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. Philly was just being used as a base for Jesse, as it was only 2 hrs away from his Sunday gig, and Philly being what it is, is better to sleep over.

4-18-2016 9-48-42 AM (Small)

Ian Michael Crumm and his bestie, budding songstress Hannah Krupa had an awesome time at Cochella this past weekend, partying with lots of stars including Kyle Jenner. Next up for Ian, he’s headed to the Tribeca Film Festival Thursday night. Follow him on Snap Chat to be a fly on the wall. Check back on Friday for more Philly Gossip.

Welcome to the New & Improved Philly Chit Chat

For years I’ve resisted going modern with Philly Chit Chat, while embracing modern technology like cell phones that take pictures and video and go on the internet.  When I started PCC back in 2007, I think AOL was still dial up or something like that and although that was annoying and eventually changed with the times, I ignored all the readers and friends who would call my blog outdated and ugly. I said isn’t it about the content, the pretty pictures, the information, why does it have to change.  Anyway here I am thanks to Chatterblast approaching me, with one of their partners 2ONE5 who knocked some sense into me as my dad would say. With help from Ian M Crumm and my hubby Mike Toub, here we are today at City Tap House revealing the newly refreshed PhillyChitChat.  Bear or bare with me as I’ve never used WordPress, although I think I am the only one left in the world that hasn’t. I can’t wait to explore all the nuances. UPDATE FROM this point: I can see there is a bit of a learning curve, there’s little notes at the bottom saying I need more text to meet the minimum standard of 300 words, are we there yet? I was eager to get a post up so I didn’t wait for my 2one5 lesson, which I really should get one  from them as they’re the experts. Isn’t this site pretty, I’m so excited.

Chatterblast Crew at Phlipadelphia at Field House
Chatterblast Crew at Flip Cup Tournament at Field House

That was a fun event, I wrote about it last week on PhillyChitChat but need to update the site so you can see it as it fell in that area after the cut off where I wasn’t supposed to add anything. Are we up to 300 words yet, usually I dont have these issues but today I am so excited to explore the site I am at a loss for words.

The 2one5 Team at Phlipadelphia
The 2one5 Team at Phlipadelphia

Thanks everyone, and thanks Tap House Logan, Janine and Christie Honigman for arranging the party. And you my friends and readers. And Danya Henninger, Billy Penn for that really nice article on my life and how I started blogging.

4-19-2016 3-14-27 PM (Custom)

And Replica Creative and Joe Kolodi for creating my LOGO, and Wallsome for the cool wall coverings.

And everyone, sorry if I forgot to include you, feel free to send me an email or shout it out.

#PCCBuzz: LQQK WHO HAS A FOOD TRUCK Now Serving Rocky Balburgers, Disco Fries and Old Bay Fries

This is still the old site, the new site launches this week!

If you follow me on Instagram, you’d know that each day I submit a photo of the Art Museum, which I take when my shuttle bus passes it or when I’m walking by. I live a cross the street so it’s not a stretch for me to know when something different is happening. I’ve notice the past couple weeks that a food truck parked itself up there. I wonder what it was but I just haven’t had a minute to run over.

4-15-2016 5-54-41 PM

Today I got a fairly good shot of it and posted it on my Social Media Channels.

4-15-2016 5-56-08 PM

I got a message back from the Art Museum. It’s their custom food truck.

4-15-2016 5-50-33 PM

Operated by culinary partner STARR Catering Group, this food truck dishes up delicious burgers with an artistic twist on the East Terrace.

PhillyGossip: Permant Pop Up Beer Garden Logan Plaza Gets A Liquor License, As Oprah Would Say, everyone gets a beer garden – Plus Newsmakers

You’ll recall that last year chatter was that PHS was going to POP UP with a beer garden at

3 Logan Square, at 18th and Cherry
Streets, but it never materialized.
Logan Bistro Liquor License (Custom)
Reports were that the plaza was under construction, but I’ve learned it was because Tower Bistro at 1717 Arch St, had already applied for the liquor license for the plaza and I’ve been told that only one can be issued per space. Yesterday it was granted to Tower Bistro who will have a permanent Pop Up space for you to imbibed outdoors. Now you can enjoy beer and much more spirits at 3 Logan Plaza, including sandwiches from Tower Bistro, which is owned by the same folks who run Top of the Tower’s Sky Brunch on the 50th Floor.

Donors Are Heros are Heros – The Party Photos From The Liveliest People in Town

And welcome back to the old PhillyChitChat site. The site has successfully been moved onto the new “server” or something like that, and now the developers tweak it, but I can post on our beloved site. This is kinda an emotional crazy time for me, and a huge game changer. The new site should be up and live next week thanks to Chatterblast and 2ONE5

4-5-2016 10-35-37 AM

Going forward I’ll be posting a lot more content on PhillyChitChat than in my other outlets, plus since I’ve been gone, yes just since Friday, I have hired a new Business Development person, someone you all know, and who has big plans for Philly Chit Chat and will also be contributing stories going forward – I’ll announce who it is next week at the PCC Party 4/19/16. A more chitchat with people of interest. I’m very excited as is the rest of the team – Ian M Crumm, Creative Director, Janine DeFeo- Admin Guru and Crista Bateman – PCC Social Media Giant and Mike Hirata – 2nd String Photographer extraordinaire. Suggested donation $5 for MS Society

Not surprisingly I got a little behind on the stories, as has some of my outlets. SO I’m just going to drop as many stories as possible in the next week to get up to date with some of the fantastic events

HD1_1238

April is national Donate Organ Month, and it’s no joke that on April 1 Donors Are Heroes held their 14th Annual THE Party which is really one of the most wild and fun parties of the year. They did not disappoint this year, in fact I’d say it was the best year.

HD1_1242

Illustrator Denise Fike has carved a nice career out for herself, a career that has always been in and around the art community.  She’s been a full-time professor and a self-employed artist for most of her career, always creating amazing illustrations for clients like Andre Leon and Sarah Jessica Parker, some of the illustrations were life size and adorn many homes in the area. These day’s you can find her at some of Philly’s best parties doing live illustrations for guests to bring home as a keepsake. She can always be found with some elaborate, fantastic hat on.

HD1_1244

For the past several years Donors are Heroes was held at the late great Four Seasons hotel. The hotel closed last year in anticipation of its new home at the top of Comcast Tower 2 next year. The building went under an extensive renovation, and is now called The Logan, but The Party needed to make arrangements for a location before all the details were in place for the new hotel, so they returned to a familiar place, The Hyatt at the Bellevue, where they held The Party 8 years earlier. The first party I attended was when it was at the Bellevue. In those early days it was much smaller and held on the 19th floor in the Rose Garden Room. This year, it was held in the GRAND BALLROOM, and it was packed. I don’t see The Party leaving anytime soon, it was the perfect room to hold it. Love the

the room which was designed and created and produced by the following generous vendors.

ROBERTSON’S FLOWERS AND EVENTS,

HD1_1250

Wei-Wei Weintraub Circus Entertainment performed artistic performances in the center of the ballroom adding to the excitement of the night

HD1_1277

The evening kicked off with a VIP cocktail party on the balcony overlooking the ballroom. Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner by the Bellevue, and relaxing songs by songstress Jessy Kyle

Mike Jerrick hosted THE VIP Party and then quickly rushed back to Fox 29 for their 20 hour broadcast celebrating Good Day’s 10th Anniversary. Long time supporters of Donors are Heroes –  Bernard and Joan Spain were honored during VIP Party Reception for their support.

HD1_1281

While waiting for his life-saving heart transplant during the spring of 2000, Don Freeman and his wife Renee Freeman realized firsthand the need for and scarcity of organ donations. Since then, Don, Renee and a group of dedicated friends have committed themselves to raising public awareness of the importance of becoming an organ and tissue donor, to dispel myths and provide a means for people to share their donation wishes with family and friends. “Organ Donors Are Heroes, They Choose to Save Lives” is the group of friends/volunteers supporting Gift of Life and its charitable supporting organization, the Transplant Foundation.

FB Philly ChitChat, twitter HughE Dillon (@iPhillyChitChat) | Twitter
or instagram PhillyChitChat  I will be microblogging and dropping news like I heard a rumor that Marc Vetri is looking to open up a cute little cafe in Point Breeze, or OMG 19th Street PhillyFlavors has brown paper on its windows, is it closed or could they be renovating the closet size store which is odd since they were closed all winter, open in March and now brown paper,  and finally Kaufman’s the sandwich place on 19th Street, which used to be 4th Street Deli, is now going to become a healthy salad bar/juice eatery by the summer, a popular NYC chain is coming in to run it.
(Normally I include this info in my Monday Morning Philly Gossip Column on PhillyChitChat, which will return April 18) OK here’s the list. Cut/Copy/Screenshot for your use.

Kelly Drive
MLK Drive – which is also closed weekends From April 2 to October 29 for recreational activities
Noon to 5PM.
Partial closure from the beginning of MLK Drive at the Art Museum to Sweetbriar Drive 7am to NOON. Then that portion is open for vehicular traffic, but from Sweetbriar to Falls Bridge remains closed til 5PM. My advice just take the Schuylkill or drive through West Philly to Girard and jump on the expressway there.
