NRG Pledges $250,000 to Nemours Children’s Health; Rupert Grint and Servant S4 Return

Pictured (l-r) are Mark Mumford, executive vice president, Nemours Children’s Health Delaware Valley Operations; Keri Murschell, director of Innovation, NRG Home; and Geoff Snelling, director of Customer Acquisition, NRG Home.

On Tuesday, July 12, Nemours Children’s Health received a
commitment of $250,000 from NRG, one of the nation’s leading electricity and natural gas
suppliers. NRG’s generosity will improve the well-being of children with behavioral health
challenges by reducing barriers and facilitating long-term access to treatment. Funds will be
raised through NRG’s Choose to Give program, which has been giving its customers the
opportunity to support local nonprofits since 2017. Nemours Children’s has received $200,000 to
date as a beneficiary of Choose to Give.

“Not only is the new $250,000 pledge amount significant, but the cause is particularly noteworthy,” said David Schrader, communications manager of NRG East. “The money will be contributed to Nemours’ behavioral health programming. We all know that mental and behavioral health among young people is a big concern these days.”

The new $250,000 commitment to Nemours Children’s Health will be donated through NRG’s Choose to Give program. The pledge will directly support Nemours Children’s Health and its ongoing behavioral health programming, which aims to increase awareness and access to long-term treatment by integrating mental health services into primary pediatric care. The hope is to address emotional, developmental, behavioral, and mental disorders in kids. The approach will include detection and prevention through early screening and therapeutic interventions, paired with scaled access to mental health support through technology and telemedicine. Since Choose to Give launched in 2017, the program has contributed more than $6 million to seven nonprofit recipients.

They’re back: Servant Season 4 has returned to Philly to film the final season. I mentioned in April that M. Night Shyamalan was taking a break from filming Servant, to film a movie called “Knock at the Cabin” with Rupert Grint, Dave Bautista and Nikki Amuka-Bird. (Info) That wrapped and now they are back to film the final season, and final episodes. This week they are in the Fitler Square area, filming on the 2100 Spruce Street as well as in Fitler Square. I stopped by the set the other day, so if you don’t want to spoil it for you, stop reading now. Usually I don’t reveal too much of the plot, but these photos say a lot.

Story line: A Philadelphia couple is in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.

On this super hot day summer day, the scene was set in fall. The poor actors and extras were dressed in coats and heavy clothing.

Thanks to PCC reader Andrew Cameron Zahn who shared these photos from a scene before I arrived on the scene. We love that Servant is set in Philly, and we’re just not a film set for this show. This scene included a SEPTA bus

and Rupert Grint who plays Julian Pearce, brother to Dorothy Turner played by Lauren Ambrose. I believe that is Ishana Night Shyamalan in this photo. She is co producer of Servant, as well as director of several of the episodes.

When I arrived to the set, at Fitler Square. I noticed there were a lot of large fans on the set, and someone filled me in they were preparing for a torrential rain storm.

The actors were dressed for chillier weathers. If you watch Servant, as I do, you know these are members of a cult that live in the park behind the Turner’s house, whose backyard boundary is Panama Street.

The cult lives in tents through out the park.

Production Assistant on the left, extra on the right. I’m sweating just looking at this photo.

At one point costumed extras filmed a scene with

Nell Tiger Free plays the Turner’s nanny Leanne Grayson.

I left after a bit as I had dinner with friends in Bucks County, but returned for an epic scene at night which was a torrential rainstorm with lightning. No doubt the extras enjoyed this scene after a day in the sun. It was really neat to see. Check out the video below.

Have a great day. Stay cool. Chit chat with you tomorrow.

What’s Filming in Center City…

What is Filming in Center City?

Yesterday I got lots of questions about what was filming on Broad Street.

It’s @appletv movie about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. It is called Manhunt; (sometimes you’ll see signs that say PAX. That threw me off at First. But I walked around the block and peered into windows of vehicles. Cause that’s what we do here at Phillychitchat, we turn every stone over until we’re satisfied) filming through July 2 at the Miller theater formally known as the Marian theater @kimmelculturalcampus I went by last night around 10PM and saw a lot of extras mingling about outside in black period piece clothing.

“Manhunt” is a true crime series based on the events of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and the book “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer” by James Swanson. Menzies stars as Edwin Stanton, Lincoln’s War Secretary and friend, who was driven nearly to madness by the need to catch Booth (Boyle) and to carry out Lincoln’s legacy. (source)

Stars: Tobias Menzies, Brandon Flynn, Betty Gabriel, Patton Oswalt, Lulu Taylor, Matt Walsh.

Earlier this week they filmed overnight in Fairmount Park. I hear they build a brick house for the filming.

Megan the Stallion Parties; Mare of Easttown Films; Adam Sandler Spotted Again in Philadelphia

The most important thing you’ll see this month. Check out this bar code for good information. OK PhillyWood is in full swing. I chitchatted last week about M Night finishing the 2nd season of Servant, and now he’s in some far away country filming Old. I noted Kate Winslet would be coming back into town to finish filming Mare of Easttown, and she has. Adam Sandler was spotted dining outside of Osteria, hang tight he was out eating again. (Source) Thanks always to my tipsters for info!!

(PS if you receive chitchat as a newsletter, you have to come to the blog to see this video as that’s how Instagram sets it up. CLICK HERE) Hot R&B singer Megan Thee Stallion was a present for a girls 16th bday party at The Four Season.

Lala’s 16th birthday party was held on the Saturday before Megan was to appear on SNL in NYC, at the newly re opened Four Seasons Hotel Presidential Suite. 15 of her besties were in attendance to celebrate the big day. Megan sang one song for the birthday girl, took photos and was whisked back to NYC for rehearsals.

Kate Winslet filmed scenes for the HBO Movie Mare of Easttown in Marcus Hook on Thursday 9/30 all day at Star Hotel Bar 1018 Market St.  They closed off the surrounding blocks to keep the Covid19 set safe. While this was going on extras who were scheduled to appear at the scene shot over the weekend were getting their Covid tests, before heading to a hotel for quarantining until filming on Friday and Saturday.

Friday Mare of Easttown filmed a scene at 24th and Judson

Notice the yellow MOE sign near front gate

But the bulk of the filming for Mare of Easttown over the weekend was a wedding scene they filmed at Girard College. Easy shoot. Extras were transported from quarantine hotel to set in Covid19 cleaned vans to shoot a happy wedding. Sounds like a great day. I know so many of the people working on the set feel safe, and are happy for a days work in PhillyWood.

As I mentioned several times on my blog, Adam Sandler is in town to film a movie with LeBron James called “Hustle” the film will be directed by Philly filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar, the son of the artist who made Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, Isaiah Zagar. (He also did a doc about his dad, which I loved) Sandler appeared on Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week to reveal his new look for the movie, a beard. He told Jimmy “I’m getting ready to do a basketball movie, a scout movie where I’m playing an NBA scout and I discover a player in Spain and I bring him to America. It’s that kind of story, it’s going to be really cool,” Sandler said.
It will feature Philadelphia born Kyle Lowry (plays for Toronto Raptors) who will do a “quick little thing”, Sandler said, along with “loads of NBA guys in it.”

@gemmasapienzaxo ran into Adam Sandler last week at Geno’s Steaks on Passyunk sporting his new beard. Look for more sightings around Philly as he’s filming several scenes on basketball courts in town this week.

Wednesday night Adam Sandler had dinner at Savona on the Mainline last night. He posed with diners and staff. He’s becoming 2020’s Jason Segal who was spotted everywhere when filming Dispatches from Elsewhere in 2019.

Meantime I was with Geno and he was taste testing my favorite childhood snack for the first time. (PS this is my other Instagram name. Most people follow me on PhillyChitChat)

Justin Bieber in Philly

View this post on Instagram

Hey guys I’m in philly come say hi

A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

Justin Bieber notified his fans he was in Philly on Friday

with a few of his friends including his personal photographer Rory Kramer, Josh Mehl with Nick Demoura show designer and choreographer for his upcoming Changes tour .

Here’s a snippet of the rehearsals for the tour so far.

After noting Bieber was at the Art Museum, on the Rocky Steps, I mentioned on Twitter that I had photographed Justin Bieber on a date in Philly where he and Selena Gomez went to Shops of Liberty Place for a smoothy, and dinner at Vetri’s * if you look at the Inky article it says 2011. Well someone didn’t do well on their reading comprehension.

That evening, Friday night, a friend sent me a text telling me there was a small mob of girls hanging outside Vetri Cucina’s. At first I thought could this be true, would he really take his wife Haley Bieber to a restaurant where he had one of his first Philly dates with Selena? Maybe, I mean it’s delicious there, but …

Ahhh it wasn’t true.

Sorry girl. It wasn’t raining men for you in the Gayborhood Friday night. But I admire your commitment staying an extra half hour after you realized he wasn’t in there, but fret not he did really eat there once.

On the otherhand, he did go exactly where I predicted he’d go to Jean Georges at the Four Seasons as I note in the last line.

Not sure what he did in Philly or why he was here, but I know for sure if you want to see him he’ll be at Lincoln Financial Field on Sat Aug 1 at 7:00pm. performing at his Changes tour, which is now in rehearsal.

M Night’s Servant Films, She Wore A Red Wedding Dress, Spotted NeNe Leakes & Sheryl Lee Ralph

Congratulations are in order for Walt Moura and Dana Spain who were married at their home Saturday night, in Society Hill. The bride wore red, and she looked stunning. Friendship turned to love, and now marriage. (provided)
Thanks to my anonymous tipster who was also checking in. Stay-cation anyone?

Real Housewife of Atlanta, Nene Leakes was in town Saturday night to host a show at The Met for Punch Line Philly Ladies Night Out Comedy Tour! with special guests Loni Love, Adele Givens, Sherri Shepherd, Kym Whitley & B Simone. She was spotted checking in at the Four Season’s Saturday afternoon, that job must pay well as Saturday night at the Four Season will set you back a few thousand, but the views are worth a million bucks.

Then she headed to The Met for hair and Make-up by local and international Make Up Artist Jacen Bowman, who also does Fox 29’s Alex Holley’s beautiful face.

Google shot

Thursday director M Night Shyamalan along with actors Lauren Ambrose and Rupert Grint filmed a scene for the 2nd season of Servant in near Rittenhouse Square at 21st and Spruce. At the end of the day they surprised actress Lauren Ambrose with a cake for her birthday and sang Happy Birthday. If that wasn’t sweet enough, the next day, Friday M Night shot scenes in the Bellevue Hotel’s lobby as well as inside Teuscher Chocolates.

Saturday I headed to Kevin Parker and Kerry Scott’s Philly Fashion Week, which has been going on all last week at 801 Market Street. Saturday’s theme was Lov’n My Curves and kicking off the show was legendary, iconic Sheryl Lee Ralph. You know I had to go out and support Sen. Vincent Hughes‘ wife on the Philly launch of her new clothing line “DIVA” Divinely Inspired Victoriously Aware which is also the name of her DIVA foundation where she raises funds for HIV/AIDS as well as other chronical illnesses; the show did not disappoint. The shirts were available yesterday at the show, and will be available on the DIVA foundation shortly. Check back later this week and I’ll have more photos from the Lov’n My Curves at Philly Fashion Week. Have a great day, and get out and enjoy it.

What did Philly Do on VDay, including Kate Winslet

Happy Valentine’s Day Weekend. More than ever this year my timeline was filled with happy celebrations of our friends and neighbors celebrated the holiday, with friends, their significant others and family. Let’s check some folks out.

Happy Valentine’s Day❣️

A post shared by Azuri Elizabeth (@azuri.elizabeth) on

Seriously the cutest baby in Philly. Azuri Elizabeth has grown accustom to her moms weekly, nearly daily photo shoots. Azuri’s name is a combination of her grandfather on dad’s sides name, and grandmother on mom’s side name. Follow along to see her grow into the beautiful women her mom is. azuri.elizabeth

Congrats!!

Emily and Matt enjoyed a romantic dinner at Parc last night, and just a few tables away was Kate Winslet, her hubby Ed and their two kids enjoying Valentine’s Day at Parc restaurant.

After the first tip came in I started doing a search to see if I could find more info, and or photos. I found the above and I LOL, and shared it with my readers. This is a national site and I love how they featured our Parc on it.

Creeping to see if I see Kate Winslet and family in the background of these photos. What did they eat I wonder, they’re all vegetarians, and Ed Smith, her husband is a Vegan.

Years ago their was a poster of Philly doors. I never tire of seeing them.

Lovely idea

While dining at McGillin’s yesterday a newly married couple came in to have their photos taken with the owners, seems they met there. They declined to be interviewed, but they were smitten and very happy. Check out a fun article at the Inky about the match making skills at the famed ale house.

We stayed in and enjoyed our traditional seafood dinner and chocolate covered pretzels. (I didn’t partake as I had dined earlier with a BFF), watched movies and was asleep by 11pm. Ahhh bliss after 25 years!! Hope you all had a fantastic VDay, and continue with a great weekend.

Spotted: Oprah, Harry Styles, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, Jennifer Lopez Works Out in Philly, A Rod Tours NoLibs

Hey there Sunday readers, hope you had a fantastic Saturday. What a beautiful day, and a taste of spring. It’s Sunday and here at Philly Chit Chat that means one thing time for a little Philly Gossip.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were in town Sunday to attend the Phillies game last night as A Rod is an announcer with ESPN.  Before the game J Lo went to the new Sweat Gym at Broad and Chestnut to do a quick work before the game. Her trainer Lauren Findley @laurenlf posted a photo of them after working out.  J Lo is wearing Niyama Sol her new leggings design, under $100 a pair she says it will show your butt the way you want it to be seen. What did former Yankee Alex Rodriguez do, I hear he headed to NoLibs to check out his new boutique studio TruFusion which is under construction at 1150 N. American Street (right down the street from the Piazza). The Las Vegas gym expects to open the first of many in our area this summer. No doubt next time J Lo is in town she’ll be working out there.

Thanks @iradiophilly for this screen shot

Right after the game they were escorted by a bevy of security, where J Lo slid into the waiting SUV, while A Rod signed for fans before making his exit. I hear they headed for the Walt Whitman bridge back to Manhattan.

Thanks to so many tipsters who told me that Oprah and Gayle King were spotted at the Reeds Hotel (Reeds at Shelter Haven) in Stone Harbor, NJ Saturday. They’re no strangers to the Jersey shore and periodically pop up as Oprah’s fiance, Stedman Graham is from nearby Whitesboro. In the 90s Oprah and Stedman even rented a house for the summer on 112th Street near the point, my mom would see Oprah running early in the morning and they’d just wave to each other from familiarity of a daily routine. Oprah posing with high school sweethearts Sara Paton and Wesley Krempel who tied the knot in Stone Harbor at the Reeds.

Gayle King was in Stone Harbor with her kids Will Bumpus, Jr and Kirby Bumpus and posted yesterday.

In recent years when Oprah and friends have come to town they stay at the Reeds or in Cape May. Last September they celebrated Labor day in Stedman’s hometown at the Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, N.J. 30th reunion. Just a few weeks ago Nick Vadala, at Philly.com reported Oprah, Gayle King and Stedman Graham were spotting dining in Cape May, where the trio enjoyed several dishes from the Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel in town. In 2013 They stayed at Congress Hall and Oprah told her fans they were getting ready for India Arie on Super Soul Sunday.

Unfortunately this visit wasn’t for something on a happier note. They were hear to attend Stedman’s brother’s funeral . James Owen Graham was born in Cape May Court House, N.J. on September 4, 1956 to Stedman Worth and Mary Jacobs Graham. Affectionately known as Jimmy, he passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 24, 2019 at Cape Regional Medical Center. He was sent home yesterday at a beautiful mass in their hometown church Christ Gospel Love Center. 2209 Route 9 South, Whitesboro, N.J. 08252 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, P.O. Box 412, Whitesboro, N.J. 08252 and Caring for Kids, 31 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, N.J. 08210.

Folks are on the look out for Harry Styles who was snapped at the Philly Airport last night. Is he here to visit his friend Xander Ritz, who grew up on the Mainline.

Spotted dining at Estia was Bryce Harper’s grandparents the night before his debut at the Phillies Opening Game.

Friday night Aaron Nola celebrated the Phillies win with dinner at Capital Grille with his family.

THE PUBLIC, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, which opens to the public today, had a fundraising screening Thursday night at the Philadelphia Film Society on Chestnut Street in Center City benefiting the Mental Health Partners of Philadelphia.   The story revolves around the library patrons, many of whom are homeless, mentally ill and marginalized, as well as an exhausted and overwhelmed staff of librarians who often build emotional connections and a sense of obligation to care for those regular patrons. Before the screening there was a VIP reception where Emilio Estevez, and Alec Baldwin mingled and posed with film goers. In this photo is taken by Shira Yudkoff
Emilio Estevez, and Alec Baldwin with  Dr. Adriana Torres-O’Connor President, CEO of Mental Health Partners, and husband Kerry O’Connor.  Friday morning Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria were turning heads as they walked up Walnut Street before returning to their hotel at the Union League. (Yes there are hotel rooms in the Union League.)
